Every provider has some sort of data threshold with their unlimited plans. Some just hide it in the fine print better than others. Verizon's unlimited plan slows down after 22 gb.
Viasat has it in plain site. The threshold ranges from 40 to 150 gb depending on what plan you signed up for. After that, speeds will slow down based on congestion. It's your own fault if you chose to ignore what was in plain site when you signed up.
Actually, I might be jumping to conclusions. Did you sign up for service at Viasat.com or did you go through a third party dealer?
The website lays everything out in plain view.
Unfortunately, if you signed up with a third party dealer over the phone or Facebook, you may have been lied to. Some dealers will tell you anything to sign you up just so they can make a commission.

I’ll take Verizon’s slow down any day. I’ve been throttled hard once by them. After 22GB of data, they “may” slow you. With ViaSat, it’s a forgone conclusion.

I used to get 20 mbps with Verizon. When they started offering unlimited I decided to keep my old 10 GB plan. Speeds suddenly dropped to less than 1 mbps at my house house when unlimited became available. I ditched Verizon shortly after that.
Don’t blame you at all, but why were you unhappy with slow speeds? Didn’t you understand the terms of your agreement with Verizon?

I never used all of my priority data. Speeds suddenly dropped from a reliable 20 mbps to an unreliable 1 mbps with dead zones.

For what it's worth, I never needed 20 mbps. I needed something reliable. Reliability went out the window in my area when Verizon started selling unlimited plans so I left.
FBI is worthless anyhow. I call every week and never get a return call.
Your complaint with Verizon is the EXACT problem I'm having with viasat. Yet you say if I can't stream with 1 mb/s with viasat then it's MY device? Okay then....

It wasn't a reliable 1 mbps. I was lucky when it would be that fast. Not to mention it never went completely dead at LSU football games before. I had coverage everywhere before Verizon started offering unlimited.
If you could bring your Viasat dish to a football game and manage to point it, you would have signal. That wasn't the case with my Verizon phone.

Of course not, you are not going to get reliable internet cell service at any event where a large crowd of people gather. Happens at football games, concerts, basketball games, etc.

I used to get reliable phone service with Verizon at sporting events and at Mardi Gras parades. That changed after they started offering Unlimited. Reliability was the whole reason I didn't mind paying extra money to have Verizon service.

I’ve said it before if someone would pass a bill stating that a Company could only avertise what they can produce to you at a very consistent 99 percent of the time barring technical breaks , there would be no need for the fine print backstrokeing . But of course how would that look on and ad ( Viasat unlimited 22 gb a month with 6mbs speed for 100.00 a month Yeah sign me up lol
Sure, more laws is what we need. Can you not read clear English? It states plainly that your speeds may be reduced after going over priority data.
I don’t remember degrading you. I don’t remember asking you if you were Illiterate. I can read , it took a while. But I don’t have to be a scholar of English to recognize a good case of Embelishing . Hey they all do it, not just via sat.
I'm not degrading you. But Viasat clearly states what happens when you go over priority data. The only exception would be some of the 3rd party sellers who don't bother to give customers the right information.

I'm a firm believer that people should have to pass a comprehension test before they are allowed to sign up for Viasat service and before they are allowed to vote.
fmj77 Sadly, This is how it seems to be in Community chat. Instead of People being nice they attack you. I guess that's what "Represents America!" Feeling cheated and being upset about misleading advertising is frustrating. Being nasty to others is definitely not in fine print. Satellite Internet service is really all that is Available for some People. It definitely gets congested and forget about watching during weather disruptions in quite a few situations of clouds, rain, thunder, and lightning in the area. Exede definitely has been a Much better Service than Hugh's net for us. I also called on the phone. They ask you what you need the Service for.. how many TV's, devices, games, etc. DO USE the Data Extender on the Website. I save a lot of Data running Hulu and Netflix. The quality will be lower, but if you run out of data you are pretty much on Dial up speed. Remember those good ole' days? LOL There are Tips on the Website now that can be helpful if All you can get is Satellite. We can only get 1 Cell phone provider also. Gotta work with what you got. Good luck!

I think i used 90 of my 150 Gig last month and so far this month 83 Gig, fast.com usually yields 3.2 to 3.6 so the Silver 150 has been a good plan with a nice data buffer. My data resets tomorrow.
Now that the phone app is working, i'm going to have to dig around a little to find something to complain about.
I'm sure some others are having issues do to unrealistic expectations, congestion and a few bonafide glitches here and there, but for the most part i think we are on the right path.
