Horrible service. Reduced speeds even though they claim it's unlimited.

I guess you didn't read the details of the plan you signed up for.

I'm not the only one that's not satisfied with their service. No where in the agreement does it say speeds will be slowed down to basically un-usable. Mine is at 0.98 mb a second. How is that acceptable for an unlimited plan?

If you can't stream video with 1 mbps, something is wrong with your device.

Those speeds are better than i get on.my beam during primetime using priority data!

I'm sorry, but if you are complaining about speeds at that level, then satellite internet isn't for you.

Can't stream with that speed on Xbox one S or a tablet. Something is wrong with those devices? As said before I'm not the only one with these problems. Simply look further into the forum comminity. You're right. Sattelite internet isn't for me.

Every provider has some sort of data threshold with their unlimited plans. Some just hide it in the fine print better than others. Verizon's unlimited plan slows down after 22 gb.

Viasat has it in plain site. The threshold ranges from 40 to 150 gb depending on what plan you signed up for. After that, speeds will slow down based on congestion. It's your own fault if you chose to ignore what was in plain site when you signed up.

Actually, I might be jumping to conclusions. Did you sign up for service at Viasat.com or did you go through a third party dealer?

The website lays everything out in plain view.

Unfortunately, if you signed up with a third party dealer over the phone or Facebook, you may have been lied to. Some dealers will tell you anything to sign you up just so they can make a commission.

I’ll take Verizon’s slow down any day. I’ve been throttled hard once by them. After 22GB of data, they “may” slow you. With ViaSat, it’s a forgone conclusion.

Here’s what LTE in a major city looks like after 22GB.

if there was an unlimited plans then everyone would be going to that plan... BUT!!! with viasat... when you DO go over your whatever priority data you have then... its still considered unlimited even though you go over your priority data... so therefore... say for an example... i had about... 40gbs of priority data... i used up my 40gbs of priority data... then therefore... i went to 60gbs beyond my priority data... that is still 10gbs over the 40gbs which is considered unlimited data... so therefore... its still unlimited data BUT!!! speeds WILL be decreased after you used up your 40gbs :3 do ya get what imma trying to say??? if so then good for ya :3 if not then... oh well... ;-; let someone try it a bit different than what imma trying to explain :3

I used to get 20 mbps with Verizon. When they started offering unlimited I decided to keep my old 10 GB plan. Speeds suddenly dropped to less than 1 mbps at my house house when unlimited became available. I ditched Verizon shortly after that.

Your complaint with Verizon is the EXACT problem I'm having with viasat. Yet you say if I can't stream with 1 mb/s with viasat then it's MY device? Okay then....

It wasn't a reliable 1 mbps. I was lucky when it would be that fast. Not to mention it never went completely dead at LSU football games before. I had coverage everywhere before Verizon started offering unlimited.

If you could bring your Viasat dish to a football game and manage to point it, you would have signal. That wasn't the case with my Verizon phone.

Of course not, you are not going to get reliable internet cell service at any event where a large crowd of people gather. Happens at football games, concerts, basketball games, etc.

I used to get reliable phone service with Verizon at sporting events and at Mardi Gras parades. That changed after they started offering Unlimited. Reliability was the whole reason I didn't mind paying extra money to have Verizon service.

It looks like a few already touched up on it but our unlimited plans do have a point where you may be deprioritized if you go over a certain amount of data. On our overview at www.exede.com/unlimited we do state this. If you go over a certain point you may see speeds drop during peak hours.

I’ve said it before if someone would pass a bill stating that a Company could only avertise what they can produce to you at a very consistent 99 percent of the time barring technical breaks , there would be no need for the fine print backstrokeing . But of course how would that look on and ad ( Viasat unlimited 22 gb a month with 6mbs speed for 100.00 a month Yeah sign me up lol

Sure, more laws is what we need. Can you not read clear English? It states plainly that your speeds may be reduced after going over priority data.

I don’t remember degrading you. I don’t remember asking you if you were Illiterate. I can read , it took a while. But I don’t have to be a scholar of English to recognize a good case of Embelishing . Hey they all do it, not just via sat.

I'm not degrading you. But Viasat clearly states what happens when you go over priority data. The only exception would be some of the 3rd party sellers who don't bother to give customers the right information.

I'm a firm believer that people should have to pass a comprehension test before they are allowed to sign up for Viasat service and before they are allowed to vote.

Hughesnet's advertising is even more ridiculous. They give you 10GB of priority data and advertise it as unlimited. Now granted, 40GB of "unlimited" isnt a whole lot better., but it is 4 times as much. Lol.

Unlimited plans offering 150GB were at least comparable to Freedom.p

My favorite was how people complained before unlimited came along. People would say stuff like this, "I used up my 12 GB of priority data and now the internet is unusable! I expect it to still work even though I used all of my data! I refuse to pay for a higher priced plan that meets my needs. Viasat is evil and I am going to tell the FBI."

down arrow Download :: 35.9 Mbps 4.5 MB/s  up arrow Upload :: 2.7 Mbps 334 kB/s Speed in MbpsMy Download

Your speed had a 69% middle variance
TiP Summary - Minimum :: 23.19 Mbps | Middle :: 38.81 Mbps | Maximum :: 47.45 Mbps

I think i used 90 of my 150 Gig last month and so far this month 83 Gig, fast.com usually yields 3.2 to 3.6 so the Silver 150 has been a good plan with a nice data buffer. My data resets tomorrow.

Now that the phone app is working, i'm going to have to dig around a little to find something to complain about.

I'm sure some others are having issues do to unrealistic expectations, congestion and a few bonafide glitches here and there, but for the most part i think we are on the right path.

I think the "MAY be deprioritized" needs to be changed to  "WILL be deprioritized." Too many "Oh, I'm special, they won't deprioritize me because I always pay my bill on time." sort out there.

Nobody is that special. I've got that little blue cup over there and, then some but, guess what - I use over 150 GB in a month and, I'm just as likely as joe blow that just signed up yesterday to get deprioritized and, thus slowed.

If it were stated as WILL BE then, if for some reason someone didn't get slowed beyond the soft limits, they would be delighted and, get that "Hey I slipped one over on them" happy feeling. We know it's just how the system works and luck and usage on thier beam at the time favored them but, if they expect to be slowed and, sometimes aren't, then that's better PR than them thinking they probably won't be slowed, then they do get slowed.
