Did you have a past due balance with AT&T? Was it time to pay the bill again and you didn't? If not then contact AT&T and see why they canceled your service. They should not cancel without reason.

As for your Exede Voice Adapter, you can email your Exede account information to exedelistens@viasat.com and, ask them to check on the status of that for you.

Hello James, I’d be happy to review your account and see if I can find out the location of your equipment per UPS. As far as AT&T disconnecting your service, that would be something you’d have to take up with AT&T.  If you had a port request to our service then yes, we would need for your AT&T service to remain active for this to process. Please give us a call at 866.945.3258 or send us an email to exedelistens@viasat.com with your account and contact info.

I gladly canceled landline service for Exede Voice as soon as it was available to me. I was paying 80.00 per month for a landline on ALUMINUM wiring that did not even support caller ID and, a leaky junction box or ten on my line that cause the phone to go out every time it rained and, often lines got crossed so that I either got calls for the other person on this road that had a phone or, would hear them talking when I wanted to make a call. acted like a party line half the time even though it wasn't supposed to be.

Can't get cell service here enough to make a call. Might send a text if it's short and I go stand out in the middle of the back pasture. That's Sprint, Verizon, ATT, Straight Talk all have no service at all here, not even text anywhere on my property. Sprint claims it isn't supposed to so I have to have an out of state phone number on my cell because the closest service area is in the next state.

VOIP is definitely a better option for me and, since Exede Voice is competitively priced and does not count against my data allowance, it's ideal for me.

not exactly true, my grandparents had the same landline since the 50's and it still works just fine and only paying $20 a month unlimited local and long distance. I have just read around and seems that satellite phone is out more than it works.

Not at all Josh, mine is only out during very heavy storms like the one that just rolled through here for the last hour. Still raining but, back online even with heavy clouds. Only heavy snow or severe thunderstorms knock my service out. It's up more than not by far. In a year perhaps 5% down time at most, and that's being generous with my estimate of down time.

I would guess your grandparents have a provider that is not available here and/or a subsidized line due to low income and, probably better wiring that here. Our phone lines are still overhead, with power lines and, they are aluminum, no buried cables here and over 10 grand to have them put in because AT&T refuses to run cables for two houses, one of which has a subsidized line and one that ditched them due to the high price. (me.)

They are also the ONLY ISP here other than satellite, so needless to say it's Exede for me because 24Kbps dial up at it's best and usually under 10Kbps speed is not internet at all today.

old bellsouth lines that att now own to be exact, they have active lines and all ports are open but they refuse to service the area even though they have to full means to do so, also a few years ago they ran fiber lines but still will not do anything with them. they told me on several occasions that they "were not allowed to service the area" but the local techs for them sit at the box alot using the internet and even went up to them one day and they was sitting there watching movies in the truck. but as far as satellite phone if it is out and you have an emergency it could mean life or death.with landline,it even works when the power is out.

So does mine but, yes I do have a whole home generator. If it's more than a phone call can handle, I'll get in the car and drive or someone will drive me. Takes at least 30 minutes for police or ambulance to get here, I can drive to the hospital in 20, 15 if I speed. Pretty useless calling for help when you live out here. Besides if it's a bad storm odds are there will be a tree down and blocking the only way in and out of here so, no help could get to me anyway.

That's the way I like it. No close neighbors, no sirens or gunshots disturbing my sleep, no one nit picking how I like to keep my yard and gardens or, what animals I can or cannot have.
