Have to move dish off of roof

My satellite dish is currently installed on my roof. I am having a new roof put on my house in a couple of weeks. The dish will have to be removed to complete that process. How can I get the dish relocated off the roof and on to a post in the yard?

Contact customer care and ask whether that would be covered by signing up for the Easy Care plan. That may defer some of the expense but the Easy Care addendum is just vague enough to suggest that the entire cost might not be covered if the pole mount is considered to be a non-standard install.

I personally went through this 2-3 years ago. I eventually wound up calling my installer/dealer directly. He came out before the new roof, did a site survey and gave me a couple options - a pole mount vs. a side mount (or even a remount on the roof). The pole mount was more expensive so I simply chose the side mount, since the last thing I wanted was to have holes drilled in the new roof - regardless it was chump change compared to the cost of the new roof. He completed it in a couple of hours before leaving including rerunning cable since the length had increased. He also did the TV dish at that time. The installer made out better than had he gotten reimbursed by Viasat had I scheduled and been billed by them.

The roofers showed up the next day... with nothing in their way and the only downtime for me was while the side mount was performed.

I'm glad it worked out for ya, Old Labs!

Steve, there is a service call that is specifically for changing the dish location.  One relocation per year is included in easycare.  That means that there will be no charge from Viasat, but as Old Labs mentioned, there may be from the tech on site for non-standard mounts, cable trenching, etc.
