Has anyone noticed increased speeds the last 2 days. I am on Silver unlimited. I am wondering if it has to do with Viasat2 turning on beams.

No. It would be way too early for anything like that.

Awesome! We've been working on traffic management. ViaSat-2 is part of the measures but more immediate things are probably more likely such as our teams working on the network, closing off busier areas from new activations until the dust settles, etc.

Yes, speeds have definitely improved.  Can't explain it.  Viasat doesn't care about it's customers so something else must be going on.....(thanks Viasat  :-)  I guess I owe them money since I only pay for up to 12mbs.  (6:45 pm  prime time!!!)

I am pulling 6.8Mbps on a Monday night at 8:30.  Pretty good.

But one night does not make a trend.  Let's see how speeds go this week before saying oh yes speeds have improved overall!

My 'up to 12 Mbps' is 6 Mbps.  Whoop, whoop. (note sarcasm). Can I have your extra 4 Mbps??  Upload is .38

Why do you need more than 6Mbps?

Right?  We always want more.  More data, more Mbps. I feel so ashamed and ungrateful.

6mbps does every thing one needs. If it wasn't for this speed arm's race I think most of us that need satellite would be a lot better off.

Not necessarily a speed arms race. It is a fact that much of entertainment is leaving conventional 'TV' viewing and going to internet access to movies, TV shows and and more intense gaming. Streaming without buffering at 6 Mbps? When 'Exede" marketed the new bird giving this type of access once the new bird was up, they set the expectations of their customers to having faster service allowing better streaming. Yes, to get emails and light internet browser viewing, 6 Mbps is sufficient.

Being I rarely have seen 6Mbps during primetime since I have had satellite internet in 1996, I will take what I can get!

“6Mbps does everything ONE needs.”

Probably more correct written like above.

6Mbps is fine for old men with three cats. It’s not sufficient for a family. Anyone who has had satellite also knows speeds vary dramatically over the course of an hour. 6Mbps one minute and maybe 1Mbps the next. If 6Mbps was a solid baseline similar to how terrestrial services work, we’d see fewer complaints. If 6Mbps is top speed on sunny days with no wind and no network congestion, then we know it only goes downhill from there.

Not to mention that young men with cats require much more upload bandwidth for their selfies...

Already told you, the mean wife got rid of the cats. I'm strictly a dog man now.

And this is why people shouldn't jump the gun when they get one good speed result. What has changed? Not much. Tonight I am back to 0.6 Mbps.

The more people think things have changed, the more it stays the same.
