If you are telling me that you're not even home and that your system is not even plugged in then you should not be using a single megabyte

Thanks and clarification.  My normal usage is .3gb/day when I'm home.  System is now on without internet usage on have gone from 7.3G to 9G month to date usage in 5 days.  So this means that the simple "handshake" of the satellite to my modem is using the same amount of data as when I am home browsing?

The "handshaking" between the Exede modem and the satellite/ground station does not count as data used by Exede. However, Windows, and some other applications you may be running, even in the background, do take up very small amounts of data, which is measured by the Exede system. Windows constantly is checking with the Microsoft mother ship to check that the internet connection is still valid. Microsoft nd other programs may have done updates with no input from you.

They can not even tell me who is using my bandwidth in detail. And you tell me they can determine heart beats and handshakes on their network.(not).Data creep is an issue with Wildblue/Exede.Orders from above!

Are you sure you have no other devices at home accessing your Internet?  Cell phone, tablet, DirecTV, smart TV, etc.

no other devices, thanks for thata.  Will disconnect on my next getaway to see what happens.  Will call Exede to see what reaction they provide.  Expectations are low on that call.  CHEERS.

Microsoft (windows 10) is stealing your measured bandwith.Go to settings/update and security/advanced options/choose how updates are delivered/make sure option is turned OFF on how updates are delivered.Note if "ON" Microsoft will use your(measured connection) to deliver updates to other PC's on the internet. Class action law suite is sure to follow!

Using Win 7.

Made call to Exede customer service this morning.  Rep was kind, helpful and went through usual "video, gaming, directv, netflix, you tube, other devices, change router password" questions pointing to OTHER THAN Exede issues.

I know that other devices cannot access my wifi system and I have no other devices  connected as they are all with me 100 miles away.  This gets curiouser and curiouser.
