Not happy about limited plan

two weeks ago I got Excede internet in my home. After explaining to the representative that I work from home and my daughter and I constantly use WIFI they set me up on a limited plan. I'm new to satellite internet, for 6 years I had Time Warner. When the technician came by I explained to him that I work from home and how we always use WIFI. He still didn't tell me it was limited. When I began to work from home, it kept logging me off. The first day it took me and extra hour to finish up my work. Hurting my company and other companies I do work for. I called Excede and the rep explains to me I'm on a limited plan. I decided to cancel because of lack of information and I can't have a internet service nor will I pay for one that's hurting my company and not working. She explained to me I would be charged $360.00 for my remaining two year agreement. Like I said, I have only had this company for two weeks. It wasn't my fault the rep and tech didn't explain it to me how my plan was limited. I work three jobs and a single mother, I don't need an extra $360.00 payment for something that was never used and was given to me with the wrong information! I spoke to a supervisor and he said he couldn't help. I WILL NEVER RECCOMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE! For this company to give wrong information and then charge their customers this is ridiculous. I will make sure that anyone who needs internet from family, friends, co workers, etc will NOT get this company. I was told to report this to Better Business Bureau, and it looks like I might have to. No one from this company has tried to help.

The same thing happened to me. The dealer I went through  did explain that it was a limited plan but no mention was ever made of the two year commitment. I found out a couple hours later when I received an email with a contract that I had supposedly esigned. I never esigned anything. The tech asked me a couple questions to confirm info they had but never told me anything about a contract. When I called immediately afterwards they basically told me too bad, I had esigned the documents. Exede is a slimeball, deceptive business and I never will have praise for them. THEY ARE LIARS AND THIEVES.

Just curious Melinda...Who was your dealer? Maybe a class action case can be made.

To the arm-chair lawyers out there...  Your contract also says you agree to arbitration, not lawsuits.

Every subscriber signs a contract for service. Laws have kept up with technology. You signed an electronic signature while the installer was there.  There is no paper contract to sign.

Welcome to the adult world, where you are responsible for your actions, including reading the electronic contract you typed your name in (electronic signature).

It's like simply clicking "I agree" in the EULA of programs you purchase without reading the whole thing first.  You agreed.  Read the agreement contained in in the popular 'RealPlayer' someday, it will shock you what you give them permission to do with your computer (it also takes about 30 hours for an average person to read the entire thing, links are part of the agreement).    Everybody just clicks 'accept' and then finds out later that wasn't such a good idea.  Read before you click, read before you type your name in a form.

Exede doesn't have a monopoly on service contracts.  Nearly all cell phone companies make you sign up for a term of service, usually 2 years.  Buyers remorse is no excuse to dump on Exede.  If you had read, you would have known.  Exede hid nothing, it was all right there in front of you.  You just didn't bother to read it.

Maybe if you actually read what I said Craig, you would have noticed that I stated the e signature was done without my knowledge. The installer just casually asked a couple questions and never informed me of what he was doing. Not an armchair lawyer but not a dummy either. Someone  else signing a document by any means is fraud. You do not need to be a lawyer to know that. I signed no document so I am free to sue or drop the service at any time I choose to do so....and that did come from a real lawyer, licensed to practice law in my home state of Texas. Also let it be known, had I had the opportunity to read the service agreement , I most likely would have agreed to it. I just thought it was a very deceptive move, I still do and you or anyone else will not change that.

Tell your lawyer it's still not a fault with Exede.  If your installer typed in your name for the signature, it's a forgery, a bit more serious than fraud.

That was my point. For the most part Exede fulfills my needs. It just put a real black mark on the whole company when a dealer or installer does this. They represent the company on the front line. If they know it is happening and do nothing, in my opinion, they condone the behavior. If I decide to drop them prior to the two years on the contract I never agreed to I'll not pay them a dime in early termination fees and welcome facing their lawyers in the courtroom or in arbitration. Bottom line is that I never agreed to the terms.

@ Melinda Perez....

Perhaps you should look at the Exede Business plan.  It offers more data, faster speeds and has a higher stream priority so the speed will be there..  It does cost a bit more than residential plans but if your work needs to get done, this may be your solution.

First of all the "welcome to to adult world" comment is stupid. I own a company sir! I know as an owner NOT to give my customers WRONG information just to get them to sign a contract.

My apologies Melinda.  My comment was directed at the person seeking to rally support for a lawsuit against Exede, which is impossible except as a flow-up in a successful criminal complaint.  I did specifically address you in my suggestion to look into changing to a business plan.  Next time I will be more pointed in who is supposed to be the recipient of my comments.
