Gaming Consoles won't connect to Exede

PlayStation 4 & Xbox 360 will not connect to Exede. I don't think it is b/c they are to far from the modem b/c Alexa connects just fine. I have been with Exede for almost a year, the modem is from Exede.

The Xbox at one time was connected to Verizon WiFi so I know it does work. The PlayStation is fairly new and has never been connected to WiFi. Neither of them has been connected to Exede.

My son knows he can't really play the games he wants but he wants to watch YouTube, etc...

Any insight is appreciated as I know this forum is full of tech savvy people. I did a lengthy search but did not see my direct issue addressed. Also, will tech support come out for this type of issue?

Thank you.

My xbox and ps4 connect fine. I use a wired connection now, but I was successful via wireless before. The wired connection works much better (throughput) than wireless. Understand, the latency involved with sending a signal at the speed of light 25,000 miles and receiving a response (total 50,000 miles or 1/2 second travel) then processing on each side (another 1/4 second on each side) make latency impossible to play any online game.

My PS4, (2)Xbox 360’s and Nintendo Switch are all connected to through WiFi with no problem. I’m even able to play Mario Kart 8 Online so you may have a faulty modem.

Let's get this right.....
Really? I only own a Switch and it's wired directly into my modem with an ethernet cable
Where will the other devices get their IP addresses? You need a router.

Your situation is purely "First come, first (and only) served."

Lag in a game is about latency (ping) not so much speed (Mbps) you could have 100 Mbps and latency of 600 or more Ms and, still have the same lag.

With satellite internet the signal must travel form your computer, to the satellite in orbit, to a Viasat ground station (gateway) then, out to the internet and server you are connecting to and, back over the same route in reverse every time you tell it to do something online. That takes 800 or more milliseconds. Nothing anyone can do about that.

You can choose games that are not dramatically affected by lag and, adjust your play style to compensate for it, that's all that can be done as far as gaming goes.

This is not true. I’ve played online games for years with Exede. I connect every day.

On Xbox Live, recently?
If you did, good for you, I hope you can continue, but for the rest of us, this is what happens.

Try wired. Too far from the router causes problems.

In this article, a user reports random disconnections at a latency of 56 ms, our latencies are closer to 750-900 ms.

Here is another article expressing high latency and xbox disconnection.
http://www.titanfall-community.com/threads/really-high-latency-numbers-and-disconnects-on-xbox-one.3...
and this one complaining about disconnects at a latency of 170ms. We are much higher than that!

Did you come for help? Many people use Exede for Xbox. Latency is a problem for some games, but not to connect to Xbox Live. Your articles do more to support what people have advised you to do than anything. Move closer to the modem or hardwire it. It will work.

Disconnects are caused by timeouts and packet loss. Latency is not the cause though it can contribute.
