Does anyone else have this issue while they are DAPPED ? Slowed is one thing, blocked is another.  I'm thinking about getting off of Exede ASAP.

Soon as I "Bought more" SSL Client port worked again for ZNC and regular IRC connect on 6697 and my custom SSL port for the BNC/ZNC .

I know it's frustrating when things don't work right but they did actually update their policy and it does say now that some things are actually blocked when dap'd.

Man. You got to be kidding me.  It might be time for me to look in to a local WISP.  The connection is only 2 Mb/s, (300 KB/sec ish ?)  but it doesn't have a cap.

Can you cite a reference for that?

Hard as I try, looking at http://www1.exede.com/legal/ I see no official acknowledgement - still the same fuzzy "restricted" phrase.

Just curious as to whether there's been an actual acknowledgement.

http://www.exede.com/documents/master/data-allowance-policy.pdf under the Q&A it says about most everything except web browsing will be restricted when dap'd

Also here is the link the the tread that Beau mentioned it

OK, but a minor point of order. Restricted does not imply blocked - there's a difference between a web site not working due to restrictions vs simply being blocked outright, although from a user perspective the result is essentially the same -  the legal documents shy away from the term blocking.

In the past, ViaSat representatives have categorically denied that blocking occurs (even Beau skirts the terminology) - more so was wondering whether that stance had officially changed now; and as noted most see the same net result regardless of legalese.

Not defending the practice, but then I avoid the debate by simply avoiding DAP altogether and wouldn't expect things to work normally while dapped  - I keep forgetting to see for myself at the end of the monthly cycle when I have bits and bytes to spare.

I wonder if there is a work around for IMs? Such as accessing them through Gmail (google talk), facebook (facebook chat), etc?

Hello TheName141, in response to your question, when you are “dapped” due to data restriction your access to a majority of websites are extremely limited, reason being you need specific data and speeds for access. Unfortunately this would count towards site’s you’ve listed including IM. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact exedelistens@viasat.com. Thank you

Yeah they started doing blocking aka restriction last October or December.  Being DAP'd at the moment, all my games I play are blocked.  Have been careful since the changed but I usually use all my data few days before reset date.

Not gonna complain but I do miss the old DAP when I could game while being throttled.

You may want to see if they have the new Liberty plans in your area yet.  They would probably be a better fit for you,

They don't.  They even removed Evolution.
