Frequent disconnects, bad modem?

My Exede modem (a SurfBeam 2) is frequently losing connection to the satellite.  Under normal circumstances, the modem status page shows Rx SNR around 9 dB, Cable Resistance of 1.0 Ohm, and Cable Attenuation usually around 2 to 4 dB.  However, about 4 or 5 times per day, I lose internet connectivity.  During this time, Rx SNR shows either 0.0 dB or very low levels (1 - 2 dB) and the Status varies between "Syncing", "Ranging", and "Ranged", and Cable Attenuation bounces all over the place (from 0.0 dB to 15 dB to N/A).  These outages usually last a few minutes and the connection usually comes back by itself.  If it lasts longer than a few minutes, I unplug power to the the modem for a couple minutes and that usually restores the connection.

Lately, sometimes when I go to the status page, it shows "ODU Telemetry status" as "Inactive" with all readings in the General section at 0 or N/A even though I have a good connection.

This all sounds like a modem or TRIA problem to me.  What can I (or Exede) do to cure these frequent service interruptions?
