I'm a dealer and when they came out with the Freedom plan, the one that has 150 gigs, it never had a free zone.

Hi J

Andy is correct. While a lot of the Liberty Plans (in certain areas) had the free zone as did our retired classic plans, I haven't seen it offered with the Freedom Plan. With the Freedom plan easily dwarfing our other plans (200% more data than our biggest Liberty plan) there wasn't a need to have a free zone with this plan as opposed to others where it would be more desired.

There needs to be a free zone. One of my pc games is 50gb.

With ViaSat 2 plans that we'll be releasing early next year we'll probably see a lot more flexibility but in the meantime Freedom plan is the biggest and best we have available and it's gargantuan compared to most of the basic plans we offer which is why there hasn't been a need for a free zone currently

I have the Freedom plan, never a free zone.  If you saw that somewhere it was a glitch or bug on the web page.

That glitch caused me to switch plans. Thinking I had a free zone I was downloading games from the advertised free zone.

It's no longer there. They changed the site. So it's pretty much my word against theirs. I think someone messed up on their side. They were nice and worked with me on it. Just from now on I will call versus hitting the upgrade button. I know for certain it said 150gb with 3am to 6am free zone. That's why I made the switch.

Sorry for any misleading information you may have seen. ViaSat 2 isn't far away and I think some of those plans will surpass the freedom plan

I am also 100 percent sure I checked plans a few weeks ago and also seen a free zone with freedom plan but I was not stupid enough to make the jump and obvesly a good thing I did not. however I did screenshot it and it was on the dashboard but they will just say it was photoshopped, to bad I got a video of it also :)

OMG! This same thing happened to me. I was on liberty 50, switched to Freedom plan with Free Zone. Started downloading something at 3 am and found the next day it was counted against me. When I called, they said there is no free zone. But it was right on the web site when I switched!  Another post shows a screenshot of the plan.   Now, I'm stuck with no options for free zone whatsoever. Only 3 plans available now - liberty 12, 18, and freedom 150. No more liberty 50 that I had either. This is just WRONG.

Be patient Dondie, you will have some new plans to choose from in the near future.

That's for sure, a lot better plans are coming. Meanwhile there are those of us still stuck with 10GB/month (with a free zone I give you that) and people with 150GB are complaining it is not enough.

Neither Dondie, the original poster or others are "imagining" this nor was there any photoshop activity involved. It was reported by another user (Kay Dogget) about a month or so ago over at:

https://community.exede.com/exede/topics/some-advice-for-the-exede-people

Unfortunately no public followup was provided as to whether or not it was corrected/resolved (par for the course here). But she was presented with the following choice during the change plan process through her dashboard (and I found no reason to doubt her suspecting it was a simple programming flaw - failure to hide or disable mutually exclusive options using some shared code) :

Attempts to clarify what was presented on choosing the Select button fell on deaf ears, but if the order was accepted those users have a case... she and others are understandably upset having lost their free zones to a plan that doesn't have one. Heavy users of the free zone know first hand that they can consume much more than 150 GB per month even with a shortened 3 hour free zone (90 hours of free zone per month) - even more so with a 5 hour free zone, right VeteranSatUser?.

So MattB, you need to verify whether the online change process is or has been corrected...

This is definitely something we'd need to look into. Thanks for bringing it to our attention (the screenshot might be from a thread during a day I'm not here as this is my first time seeing it). Could be an over site on our end but I never saw the free zone with the Freedom plan just because of how large of a plan it is compared to say a 10GB plan or even a 25GB plan.

Unfortunately a free zone isn't something we can switch on/off accounts as they are defined by the plans. Unlike say a wrong price where we can credit to reflect it, free zone isn't something we can work around or fix or make a data adjustment to reflect. It's simply not possible to do on our end for one customer let alone several.  I'm wondering if this appeared when we began having Liberty plans with a free zone.  There could have been a breakdown on communication and that might have been posted in error. I'm sorry for anyone who might have seen this and were misled but the official word on our end is that the Freedom plan DOES NOT have a free zone. I will communicate this to the proper people so that if this is showing that we correct it so that nobody else gets confused.

With that said in 4 or so months it's probably going to be a minor detail compared to the ViaSat 2 offerings. Some areas might be experiencing a taste of that as we test. To sort of paraphrase Doc Brown for our goals moving forward "Free Zone? Where we're going we're not going to need Free Zones"....(aka we are anticipating the ViaSat 2 plans to be so substantially amazing compared to the current offerings that a free zone wouldn't even be needed).
