ViaSat seems to have come through!  This is pretty cool.
As of this morning my d/l speeds are very good...and what I would expect for a "12 mb service" - let's see how it holds up during the day but for now, life is back to good and thank you developers and the NOC (if this speed continues).

O.K.  Everyone put their popcorn away....  ( well, maybe we better not just yet.  I get the feeling if he runs another speed test and it drops a fraction he will be on his rant again.  Orville Redenbacher has nothing to worry about with this guy!

Call me crazy, but it's almost like it has something to do with the day and time of day for some reason. I think the developers and NOC only work mornings on the weekends.

And then comes evening, and the speeds just don't hold up. What a surprise.

Glad that I did stock up on my beer and popcorn.

More good entertainment to follow.

Just another comment from a Real Viasat Troll.

My wonder was directed at you.  One speed test at one time of day doesn't mean anybody did anything and anything has changed.  I was surprised you thought that to begin with.

Still surprising that it's been attributed to congestion on Viasat-2 at this early date, unless as I noted over in George's original thread:

While VS2 may not be oversold just yet, it was implied that they were taking some additional steps in beefing up the ground infrastructure for some beams during the last conference call -  that was anticipated to be completed in the July/August time frame. That may explain George's stating that:

I asked NRTC tech (will follow up with their legal dept this week) and he said another month - or longer of this because of "congestion."
Hopefully it a ground issue in getting the remaining pieces in place.

Since we're dealing with NRTC here, are you sure you're on Viasat-2? Just thinking out loud, does your modem look like the following?

FWIW, you've come to the right place for short-lived optimism...

P.S. FWIW, Just cjecking and I'm guessing you are on Viasat-2 since you originally mentioned being on beam 512 - one advantage of NRTC is we know what our beam is from our portal assuming it's still shown there for Viasat-2 plans.

Not sure what the NRTC's involvement is with reselling 2. Probably. But with an "unlimited" plan his test with Fast are not going to change, no matter the day or time.

He's not complaining about streaming. He's using the Google (M-Lab) speed test which at least for me has always proven to be consistent with testmy.net or others - except for the bogus latency statistic. He's already been educated on the Fast.com test and the detected video throttling.

I hate complaints that span threads - but he had no choice ;)

The real question is why is Viasat-2 congested already if one believes the NRTC explanation? Has it been a resounding success? It's going to be a bumpy ride to Viasat-3, infinity and beyond if that's the case - order more popcorn!
