Speed issues

Fed up with Excede!! Just checked my download speed on a speed test and it is 5.37 and I am not over my usage!! Trying desperately to get real dsl to my neighborhood. My son has been trying to stream nexflix's during our free zone time, and can't even do that with this crappy internet.

The internet is not crappy!! Yes from time to time there systems get bogged down and you get slow speeds...that being said send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com with you account and contact info referencing this post and they will take a look to see what's going on. I just tested my like 30 min ago because I thought it was running slow but its actually running like 11 down by 4 up

Satellite Internet is not a substitute for cable TV or in-city Comcast Xfinity service.  It puts us into the 21st Century, we have Internet in a modern form. Progress is being made.  Can you recall early satellite Internet where it was required to have phone service for it to work?  Uploads were by phone wire and only downloads were from satellite.  The upload speed was set by FCC Rules at 53Kb/sec and downloads were a blazing 256k, all for about $99.00 a month.  Yea, "4 times faster downloads than dial-up" was the lure.

Next year ViaSat-2 will be launched and after a modest setup time, will about double our top speeds of today and data caps will also double.  If you had DSL, you wouldn't get the speed you now complain about unless you lived next door to the origination source of the DSL signal.  DSL sells speed and then doesn't deliver because they'll say you live over 1,000 feet away from their distribution point.   You should be thrilled to have what you do and understand that Exede is doing the best job that can be done...by anybody, with improvements in the works.

Here is living proof Exede is a company that cares for each and every individual customer.  When they are made aware of a problem they actually invite the affected customer to contact them so the problem will be resolved to the customer's satisfaction.  How many companies care about just you, as an individual?  Exede has this public forum to take their customer's comments, for better or worse, for all to see, showing what they are going to do about someone's problem with their service.

If you threaten to leave AT&T  because of a problem, their attitude is you are only one of millions of customers, you won't be missed.  It's the "you won't be missed" part that sets Exede apart from the others, they care about me, personally, and you.  Exede has about 650,000 customers and cares about each and every one of them. AT&T talks about their great service but where I come from actions speak louder than words.

Exactly Craig...Don't even get me started on AT&T and all the issues we have had at work with them...needless to say our work network switched over to TW telecom from AT&T do to all the issues with AT&T

You have a problem with your Exede Internet, well, Exede Listens.  There have been other customers that came here with a problem and Exede looked into it, as they do with all problems and actually found malfunctioning equipment on their end and made repairs.  Exede actually appreciated the complaint as it made them aware of a problem that could have affected many other customers.  That one individual customer made a difference because Exede cared about that one customer.

If you do leave Exede please remember this: You will be missed.

I tried Dish Internet first.  People around me was getting about 12-15 M download, but I was getting less that 5 and usually less than 1.  They had 3 different techs out to look at it and none of them could fix it.  After about 6 weeks of daily complaining they told me it might be best to try a different provider.  I then went to exede.  Now I admit that I had trouble with getting them to send out an installation team which took me over 1 1/2, but once I got it installed it works pretty well.  I usually get between 12 and 16 download and around 3 upload.  A few times I will get about 6 but overall I'm way more happy that with Dish.  I don't think Exede has the best plans available, they are pretty high priced and you don't get a lot of options.  But they are the best I have found so far in my rural area.
