Farewell to the community

I don't really have a question, problem or praise... just saying farewell (and I mean that... I hope you all fare well!) to this community.

We are pleased to have found an acceptable substitute for satellite internet, we are pleased with some of the perks that came along with our new provider and we are pleased to be moving on!

... and so I'm going away, but not too far away. I hope to drop in from time to time to see how folk are doing. 

There are a lot of issues with satellite as a technology and we all know too well the recent issues (for my family's concerns, those issues date back to early this year) with the business practices of ViaSat. But one place I have very few issues is with the Social Media team that does their best to support an often "angry horde" of satellite users. It can't be easy. I honestly think they are motivated to serve in the best way that they can, but that they often are forced to operate with at least one hand tied behind their back - and in many cases, both hands!

So to Matt, Brad and others (sorry I don't recall all of the names), thanks for doing your best. I honestly don't see how it is that you are still plugging away at it, but some of the folk in this forum appreciate that you do.

And since this is tagged in "Ideas", here's an idea for ViaSat. I have an idea that you should renew your commitment to the retail market and do what you can for those people. Probably, that's going to be in the short run, because 5g is coming, LEO satellite constellations are coming and more powerful 4g offerings are opening up other choices for your retail customers also. I understand why you've turned your focus to commercial and military, I get it. However, it is sad to see you chasing away advocates and supporters - market forces will eventually chase them away anyhow, there's no need for ViaSat to rush the process!

And so, my idea is that you renew focus on providing the best that you can provide in retail satellite service. At one time, there had been a clear and marked difference between yourselves and that other satellite provider. That difference is less clear now, but there's no reason why you cannot re-commit your efforts. Hopefully, you can again "get there" for the retail market. Who knows? Maybe you do LEO constellations of your own (!?).
