I'd like to know why I pay $75 a month for internet that doesn't work half the time and when it does it's extremely slow.

Allie, there can be many reasons for slow speeds. What kind of speeds are you seeing at testmy.net? Do a manual download of 12 MB or larger one morning, one midday and one in the evening. lets see if it looks like beam congestion, or another problem.

Of course, if you are not on an Unlimited plan and, have used all of your data for the month, speeds will be slower that when you have data remaining.

I'm hopeful these unlimited plans are being tweaked during this phase before the new sat. comes on line.  This is going to be a real issue if the unlimited plans can't stream after the "soft cap" is met.  We will wait and see how this plays out.

I am on the Freedom 150GB - 12 Mpbs plan. My speeds vary from 8 Mbps during prime time on weekends to 18 to 20 Mbps during the daytime.

Stephen, I don't know what kinds of speeds you ever got on dialup, but mine were never greater than 21 Kbps.

Not to sound flippant but it's because you signed a contract that says you will get "up to" a speed. the last commenter said he gets better. I had the 150 with 25Mbps and rarely get over 2Mbps during the day and early evening. My beam is congested and will never get any better. I hold no hope in their empty promises of new satellite doing anything for me. I bought into their load of crap sales pitch as did you and thousands of others. Customer service has never helped my situation in over 2 years. Caveat emptor

In the country, rural area where I live there is this choice and one other! I had hoped ViaSat would be better but for video streams it is not completely. Web browse is fine and video would be but drops to 2.0 mbps at times which will not stream video and I have a 25mbps plan!

Allie,

When you say it doesn't work half the time, what does that mean?

Does your modem lose contact with the satellite?  Does the modem lose power?

If you're seeing issues with the hardware on site, then it might be worth having a tech come by to inspect the install.

Call Customer Care at 855-463-9333, they can take a look, and build a service call, if needed!

Probably isn't even on an unlimited plan. Original poster said they are paying $75 a month. Unlimited plans start at $80 a month with modem rental plus taxes.

Sounds like they used all of their priority data.
