We have Exede Internet Phone, but not voice mail. We want to use our Panasonic answering machine with it, but it hangs up on anyone calling in just as you'd think the answering machine would pick up. How do I get them to work together?

That is because the Exede Voice answering machine picks up the call after 4 rings. You will need to go into your Exede Voice settings and change or disable the Exede Voice answering function.

I just figured out that Exede Voice isn't activated on my account. Any other ideas as to what is causing the phone to hangup when answering machine turns on?

Can you temporarily change the number of things to something lower on your answering machine and see if itbpicks up then?

Also, try calling your number from a different phone and see what happens when the ringing stops. It may be that it is going to a voice mailbox has not been setup message. Don't know but just some thoughts.

I have a panasonic phone with answering machine...I have the answering machine picking up after one ring...the only way I can be sure it will beat the Exede voice mail in picking up the call, but it works--so for whatever reason I am not having the same problem you are.

(I think I could call exede and ask for them to increase the number of rings before voicemail picks up, but I am ok with how it is now.)
