Data issues

I noticed a few months ago that we were using way to much data and when we left for three days for Christmas with family and ALL electronics were shut off (I even disconnected the wifi), we somehow still managed to use 33 percent of our data during those three days. Then I started tethering my cell phone and set up a hot spot and connected every single electronic in our home to my phone, forgetting the Netgear connection of each electronic. Exede is still saying we have used 3.4 gigs. HOW! I was also overcharged $50 on last months bill. I will be cancelling my account and if they try to make me pay cancellation fees I will be reporting the situation to the Better Business Bureau. Or better yet I will get a 64 gig memory card and video tape my home over the course of a month showing how the usage is being stolen and put it on utube. I am so sick of people trying to rip me off.

This is not the way a champion talks. Have a little respect, some people are upset when there internet goes boom. They are here to vent and hopefully get there problems solved not just to pass the time. We all know this. Half your answers are some technical stuff no one understands, Things you just read or copy and paste. You need to get real. This spill above is very rude coming from a champion.

My apologies Susan not trying to be mean...but fact is so many people have come on here and just threaten to start a class action law suit and call exede liars and thieves. The social media team is here to help and even Exede Neil (ViaSat engr) has been on here trying to help people. So before everyone comes here bashing the company try to ask for help nicely :)

i just did a test myself they are blocking port 5060 and 5070 when dapped, and many many many others, check for yorselves this is totally illegal and i think the fcc wold like to hear about it.

Bryan, Susan and anyone else with specific complaints should direct them to the State Attorney Generals Office; Consumer Affairs Division, and the BBB only to warn those who research Exede's complaint history (and their record of resolution) when considering the service for themselves.
The best complaint Investment is through the State Attorney General's Office; Consumer Affairs Division. It'll be worth the few minutes it takes to file the complaint in detail, and have confidence in knowing that it will be investigated. Allow them to initiate any Class Action or other type Suit as there may very-well be thousands experiencing identical or similar issues regarding their Exede service. Until the complaints are filed though, don't expect these business practices to change.

I never had any complaints tyvm, Spend your time with bbb's and all that crap, exede is rated the highest in the nation for satellite internet and help people that can't get hooked up anywhere else. Maybe I'll turn knight into the bbb lol. They need a showboat. he/he

hey get a netgear router they have a option to traffic meter, it ill show how much data you r using and than you compare to the site

I actually have one myself and it shows way less data used than what exede shows but get this... exede doesnt actually have a data usage monitor instead they look at your ports being used and predict data usage based off that... Now how is this fair to anyone

I cant even use my VoIP service because they are blocking the ports... fcc ruled that illegal already in there internet takeover check this page out guys FCC Complaints i hope you enjoy these thieves deserve to be reported over and over again and excuse my attitude but exede doesn't respect their customers that's why whenever someone has a problem they give them the same old solution restart your router even if you already have, also whenever someone actually has a point they put them on "hold" which is permanent just look at the companies reviews that alone proves the companies fraudulent behavior. Lastly please  tell me how a 30min anime will use half a gigabyte at very least on your data plan when the videos size is usually only 58mbs

Can't use your VoIP?  Is it ExedeVoice, or a 3rd party system?  ExedeVoice is never, ever blocked even when account is in restriction, and does not count against your data usage, but a 3rd party system will count.

Exede does not block any ports which is surprising since all cellphone companies absolutely block incoming TCP/IP connections.

The workers at the call center have few resources to help you with technical issues.  Send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com as Exede Kimberly advised someone else at the top of this thread.  Your issue can be analyzed and a solution developed by people having needed resources to do some good for you.

About your video:  Check your figures or data.  You have specified a video having a data rate of 58mbs which is higher than the highest quality Blue-Ray movie which is 40mbs.  Perhaps you should download that video during the LNFZ and check the file size.

If you believe Exede is blocking ports, there is a test-site you can visit for a definitive answer to that question, HERE

Lastly, Exede does respect their customers and truly wants them to be happy with their service.  Please carefully read what Exede Kimberly said to Bryan at the top of this thread.

The recently passed FCC net neutrality regulations do not take effect until 60 days after publication in the Federal Register. The date of publication was April 13, 2015. Therefore they don't become effective until June 12, 2015.

Before believing everything you read on the internet about the net neutrality ruling, you should read the actual ruling at https://apps.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-15-24A1.pdf. If you think it's geared at protecting consumer interests, you're mistaken.

Finally if you feel you've been the victim of unfair or deceptive trade practices, you'd do better seeking a different three-letter acronym - FTC.

However, any complaints where you feel ViaSat is not abiding by its legal documents located at http://www.exede.com/legal/ can be directed toward the FCC since that's what they regulate, not trade practices. Good luck with that because those documents were revised to comply with the terms of the FCC ruling back in March.

That is true but I think in this case they added the "s" to make it plural. Meaning that the video was only 58MB in total size, I think.
