Yesterday I received an email from "email@customercare.exede.com"
the subject line was "Help us with some testing and we'll give you unmetered data"
It asked me to download a plugin for chrome so you couls monitor the time it takes to download a page etc..... in exchange for 4 months of unmetered data.
I then wrote you to know if I needed to download this plug in on all my PC, but I received a responses telling me that this was not sent by exede, but that was some kind of hacking.......my virus program did not show me any spoofing or anything.... was this an hoax?

No this is not a hoax. We did a trial experiment earlier this year and a few select customers such as you have been selected to optionally be a part of this trial as we launch it again. If you choose to be a part of it and as long as you go by the rules stated in the email we'll give you unmetered data for 4 months.

How long should it take for a confirmation email? I received the email offer to participate. I downloaded the Firefox version and I can see that it is running, but have no confirmation info as of 24 hours later. Phone calls to customer service can find no one who knows anything about this offer. Obviously I don't want to blaze through my monthly data if this offer is not properly activated . Is there any department I can contact directly to discuss this issue?

I still do not know how to find the app for this. I have looked in the Crome/good app store and did not find the app.

It should have a link in a email if you were selected for it.

I also received this email.  When does the testing start?  Is it just unmetered for web browsing or will streaming be included being unmetered?   Also will it be on just that specific device or will all devices be unmetered?

Hi Christine, All data usage will be included.   If you are part of the trial, please send all correspondence to the email address that was in the instructional email sent to all of the participants.    Thanks

I guess you just have to go to the google apps store https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/apps and then look for the app mentioned in the email

We have a viasat trial email for those that are participating in the trial viasattrial@viasat.com for additional support and questions. Once loaded you'll get confirmation emails (you'll still get emails saying that your data is nearly used up but they can be ignored during the trial.) Most cases,  there will be a widget button in the corner to confirm if you have the app. We ask that you primarily use the browser and device it is installed on, should you switch to another browser like Internet Explorer and we show an extended time without using the browser it's on you'll be unenrolled from the trial. I can't say for sure about smartphones unless they are able to add the app (most likely an Iphone probably won't work). Either way, you'll get confirmation emails to confirm you're properly enrolled

Yes, I had the email address. It gets no response. I finally got an email confirmation after emailing excedelistens@viasat.com. I am not sure why the viasattrial@viasat.com is not responding but it seems from this thread that communication on this offer is less than optimal. But now that I do have confirmation I am happy to participate. Thanks for the help

Hi All,  The team on the Viasattrial are working diligently to respond to anyone that wants to be part of the trial. If you responded and followed the directions from the initial email, we have you listed as a participant.  Everyone should receive a confirmation email within 48 business hours from Monday. We appreciate your patience.
Please check your email spam folder to make sure it didn't go there.

Its been over 48 hours from Monday and I never have received my confirmation email and now my data usage is over half my limit since I haven't been monitoring like I normally would since it suppose to be unmetered.

Your meter will show your usual limit, it will even surpass it, complete with notifications while on the trial. The only difference is rather than slowing you once that limit is reached, you'll be at usual speeds
