Exede Business ASAP

Well I will loose Exede Voice but, I'm going with Exede Business 50. I'll get 20 more GB and, actually save 20.00 vs what I'm paying now per month. I got a booster for my cell phone so it will do for voice at home, no more than I use it anyway.

Not a bad deal really, if you don't need voice so much as you need the data (and speed and, more personal support.)

I'm happy with that. :)

Hi Bev--What is a booster for a cell phone? Does it work with Trac phones?  We just have land line where I live and no cell signal unless you stand in the road.

HMC,

I ditched my landline phone permanently a couple of months ago and wnet with StraightTalk's Home Phone. I actually purchased the home phone base back in December and was waiting until the foliage was back in the spring before pulling the plug on Verizon's landline.

For $15 per month I'm getting unlimited nationwide calling versus the $52 (plus added charges for any long distance). See:

https://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/shop/otherdevices/ShopHomePhones

TracPhone may have a similar offering.

The base unit is wireless and you simply plug into your existing land line phone. In my case, I simply unplugged the incoming landline at the outside network interface and then plugged the the base unit into an existing available phone jack inside and viola all of the wired handsets work as expected.

Like you I had a GoPhone pays as you go for emergencies ad whole on the road. I could barely get a signal unless going outside and hanging off the deck. The SraightTalk unit with its antenna doesn't have a problem and is sitting near a window.

It's all the Verizon network underneath and for me it was worth the shot since the base unit can be picked up a Walmart. Easy return is it hadn't worked and all I would have been out was the initial $15 for the first 30 day if it hadn't worked at all.

With the $37 I'm saving plus the additional prior charges for long distance, I've just about got my Exede 12-10 service covered.

I got this one. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1051241&gclid=CLWlyrnKt80CFQctaQodMdg...= and it does work, went from one bar to three bars service on the four phones that have been here since I installed it.

2 iPhones with Sprint
1 LG phone with Sptint
1 Samsung with Straight Talk
1 Samsung wit AT&T

Works with all major carriers in the US, it claims and, has with three here so I assume it would work for you as well.

Pretty easy, plug it in, stick the antenna on the roof, or wherever you have the best signal,  run the wire in a window, or as I did drill a small hole for it and, voila, cell service w/o having to walk around outside to find it, and stronger than without the booster.

A cell phone signal booster will work with Tracfone or any mobile phone.  Check out www.weboost.com for examples. A booster is a two-way signal amplifier with an outdoor or window-mounted antenna to connect to the cell tower, the booster module, and an inside antenna to connect your cell phone to the booster.

I know several people with them, myself included. Weboost is the brand I'd suggest, they used to be known as Wilson. You just need a small amount of cell signal on the roof for it to work.

What is Exede Business 50?  Never heard of it and not sure it is offered in my zone. What does it cost?

Bev - what is needed to have a Business account?  Is it different equipment, thus the $299 installaton fee?  I see there is a 20GB/$99 where I am paying $99 for 18GB. Also says the lease fee is included, so I would gain 2GB and save $10 in a lease fee?

A while ago (either here or in the other forum), Exede Alex indicated the install fee was waived for existing residential customers, with no new equipment and largely an administrative transition.

Beware the data allowance policy - automatically charged when going over the data allowance. See:

You need a business name, fortunately I have a small produce farm, so that gave me the name. They will ask about locations, number of connected devices, and business applications you use. Speed is up to 15Mbps and you are not slowed when you go over but, are billed at 10.00 per GB for any part of a GB over your cap that you use.

Business 30 has a free zone form 3AM to 8AM, currently the free zone also applies to other Business plans but that may change at any time, and when it does, the way it's worded, they do not have to inform subscribers that the free zone is gone for their plan. (Except for Business 30.)

Once you get through all of that, they schedule a phone appointment that will take about an hour. I'm doing that tomorrow, then they can change your service. The installation fee is waive for residential customers switching to a Business plan. You keep the same equipment. Currently Exede Voice is not available to Business customers.

Beyond that, call the Business Sales department.

Bev, I got Magic Jack over a year ago and am extremely pleased with it. All my calls are forwarded to my cell phone. Equipment and first year were $53 from Wal Mart and thereafter will be $35 per year. I rarely use it for out-going calls. The only reason I still have a land-line is because my old number is out there on business cards, brochures, and web site. At one time I needed it for faxing but now I have E-fax. Eventually I will do away with it all together.

Also, just like with residential I would recommend going through a local dealer rather than calling Exede. Some local dealers may not be approved to sell Business Plans but can be approved fairly easily by taking some additional on-line training.

I've always gone directly through Exede, there really isn't a local dealer here and, it's whomever is willing to drive over here. Last time the tech was from Oklahoma, before that, Dallas and, the original install of WildBlue was done by the local idiot we had 10 years ago. (Pot head, greasy slime ball that lasted all of a few months as a dealer here.)

Transitioning to Business plans doesn't require a technician, just about an hour with me on the phone and at my computer.

AS for any other VOIP NO WAY - that uses bandwidth and, I'm paying over 200/month for cell phones anyway (that's for 3 phones on the account with unlimited everything and, leased phones.) I need my data for other things, Being a Hero over at EA AHQ being one of them. (That's a rank over there, unpaid but a lot more online stuff than anyone except actual EA Employees to do.)

Does switching to Exede Business from Residential require a new contract?

I was just informed this morning (by my area sales manager) that all that has changed. Formerly, you only had to make a phone call to upgrade to Business Plan. Now you have to enter into a new contract, get all new equipment installed, cancel old contract, return equipment and pay early termination fee.

I did have to digitally sign a new 24 month contract, I was long out of contract on my residential plan. I kept the same equipment and, provisioned the modem myself while on the phone with the Exede Business representative.

I did not have to pay the 299.00 installation fee but, the computer will charge that to you and, you have to wait for it to go through then, get a refund so, you do need the 299 plus the cost of the first month of service available on your payment method.

The computer will also send you a box to return your residential equipment, don't worry about it, you don't need to return what you are using. Just call or email to be sure the residential department knows you transitioned to Business and are still using the equipment the box was intended for is all.

Jim I would call someone else because you were not told correctly unless it changed in the last 3 weeks.

Yes, if you were not out of contract on the residential, there would be early termination fees to pay, that's in the residential contract, same as the Business contract and, you do terminate and disconnect your residential account.

Jim's a dealer/installer - pretty sure he's relaying the current policies from his regional sales manager.

Here's the body of the email I received. I believe he knows what he's talking about.

We are not manually converting customers from Residential to Business anymore internally so yes, your residual will change because the customer has to terminate the old/existing Residential account and you have to set up a new Business account for them.  The customer must terminate their existing residential account by calling Customer Care, return the modem & TRIA in boxes we ship them, pay any early termination fees (if applicable) just as if they are leaving us to go somewhere else. Before or after terminating their existing account, they order a new Business account from you.  You use all new equipment, etc.  It’s handled like the customer never had Exede before
