Typical complaint from someone who didn't know what they were buying before they bought it.  If you have cable in your area, why did you agree to go to satellite in the first place?  Five minutes of research on your part would have made it very clear that satellite is an alternative to dial up and dsl, not as an alternative to cable or fios.  Let this be a lesson to you, do your own research before you agree to do something, just because someone says it will save you a few dollars.

This is the worst company internet I ever had. They are the definition of a fraud company and I'm going to report you guys to the BBB. They sent out a guy for installation which didn't know what he was doing and messed up our walls and messed up a lot things around the house during installation. After all the mess up he made us sign a document that he said it was attesting that he came. At any point or time he said we were signing a 2 yea contract. At any point or time there was any written document around or attached he didnt show us anything stating that we were signing a two year contract. Now they want us to pay $340 horrible customer services too

Diana, when I was trying to decide between Hughes Net and Exede, both companies on their websites told me I would be signing up for 2 years. I know that to be true because I spent months trying to decide if I wanted to make that commitment.

I am assuming the $340 is for breaking your two year contract?  If so, that is about the same for DishNetwork and Directv. In some cases the company you are moving to will give you a credit for helping you pay the $340.

In my case moving from an intermittent DLS connection, in a rural area ... Exede is the best internet service I have ever had and I started on the Internet the first year it came out 20 years ago.

Sorry for your installation troubles. All companies have problems with their installers.

Satellite internet service from any company is metered. meaning you have a limited amount of data you can use for the price you pay.

If you have cable or DSL available, that is generally a better option but, for those that have only dial up or no other internet service at all, satellite is a good choice. You simply have to learn to monitor and control your usage.

I strongly disagree with you. I had an internet company for 4yrs, and only paid 40.00 a month without having to worry about data usage, or find myself reading a paragraph and all the sudden worry about whether or not I have enough usage left. Unfortunately, I moved  out to the country and this was the only internet available, and I do not have cable. It is hard to enjoy my computer time, due to worrying about data usage. I am not happy with this monitoring situation. However, I am happy that there are some people content with this, and it is better than nothing at all, even though I'm paying double the amount....

I live in the country and my two choices for internet services are DSL and Satellite. I had DSL for the past 7 years with a local provider. This past year they got out of the DSL business because all of there internet business was either satellite or wireless. They passed off their DSL service to two other companies. My connection service turned into being intermittent and they also raised my monthly fee to wireless even they though admitted in my location wireless was not possible.

Therefore I am more than thrilled with my Exede service. Sure, there was a learning curve on how to monitor and control my data usage but nothing major. In a few years even the cable companies will be selling data for a fee just like Exede. Data isn't free to companies and eventually all users will have to pay for internet usage.

Satellite and Cable fiber optic is much different in costs, therefore that is why you are paying double. Launching anything into space is not cheap.

Hi Jimmy Dunn,
Im sorry to hear that you cancelled with us due to the data limit. For customer that are use to the unlimited from cable internet providers and then switch us it is a bit of a shock with the limit. For a lot of our customers cable is not an option and they dont want dial up so satellite is the only other thing.  And once you get use to managing your usage, changing a few things our service can work great for you and you can get the most out of your internet. Jimmy if anything ever changes and satellite is the only thing you can get. Give us a call and we will be happy to get you all set up again and help you with tips and tricks to manage your data so you can get the most out of it! Exede Emerald.

You guys are saying that we have to pay $340 to cut the internet before 2 years. This is against the law what you guys did. If I'm going to pay the money I'm going to spread the word and how about how bad was the services are about how your deceiving company trick costumers to get them in a 2 year contract. If this is the way that you guys train your employees to deceive customers this is shameful and embarrasing.we shouldn't pay a nickel for your mistakes we shouldn't pay a nickel sending all those dishes back to you guys. But you guys are not about people you guys are about money which is very sad.we are decent people and we don't deserve this but you guys have horrible business ethics and poor costumer services. All companies have bad installers, Dish, Directv, Cable...it's a common problem. I have had a couple in 25 years. Like I commented on another of your posts Diana, it was on the webpages of Exede and HughesNet that there was a 2 year commitment. I read that when trying to decide whether to make the switch from DSL to Satellite service.

Go ahead and do what you say you want to do ... you'll be laughed at by the BBB.
