Evolution Plan NOT working as intended.

Previous to about 3 months ago the Evolution plan would allow me and my family to surf the web and read email after our 10Gig data was gone. I run an Etsy shop and was able to upload images that were well within the size restrictions the Evolution plan sets out. For the last 3 months or more the Internet is almost unusable after our 10Gig data is gone. Even the Exede pages take 45+ seconds to load. This is pretty much the same on any and all pages on the Internet. I am not sure what has changed but it has really made it painful to try and surf.

Hi Eric

Not so long ago the traffic shaper was modified as it was discovered that the Evolution plan wasn't working as intended (ie it counted streaming towards unmonitored data). Since the change many users that were on prior are finding the data isn't stretching as long as a result. I can take a look at the account if you'd like if you email us at exedelistens@viasat.com

I am emailing now.  The problem isn't running out of data faster it is that we do not have any regular browsing speed after we do run out of data. About as slow as dialup on ALL webpages after data is used.

Eric, you mention uploading images to ETSY, images are not considered browsing or email. They are images, just as video is video, audio is audio. Run a media blocker, like UBlock Origin, set it to block all advertisements and all media over 1KB in size form loading, see what's left - that's what doesn't count.

Yes that's a bit extreme but, it will give you a good idea of what is not counted against your 10GB. If you need to upload images more frequently, you may want to consider a larger data plan.

I know, it's frustrating but, from what I understand, the Traffic Shaper was not working properly and, wasn't counting all of the media it should have been counting as metered usage. It has now been fixed and, is counting, and thus slowing the loading of such media once you run out of Priority Data on an Evolution plan.

The image I upload are relatively small and used to upload without taking part of the data cap. But I can also not search Google, open GMail read Facebook posts even with video off. Pictures on normal web pages don't load or take very long. I can deal with slow upload of images to Etsy if that is now part of the usage (it hasn't been before). But not being able to open plain text emails and read CNN just seems like NOT part of the idea that you can surf the web and use email and it will be at norm speed. I am not asking for extras, just what I was told I would have and have had for multiple years until recently.

Thanks for your suggestions on the ad blockers. Funny thing, all of the ads and such load just fine. It's the content I want that does not.

Eric, have you considered changing plans? Exede has introduced some very good plans in the past few months that are priced right and have much larger data limits. Many area can get the Liberty plans with a free zone too. You should investigate what is available in your area.

Actually, I would just like to have what I am already paying for and no longer getting. Changing to a more expensive plan because the plan I am currently using isn't working as it is supposed to is unacceptable. There are other providers that offer more data at higher speeds for less money than Exede's Liberty plans. What makes the Evolution plan good is that you are not supposed to be throttled for normal surfing and email after the data is gone.
