Wifi box runs hot

the wifi box runs HOT!!! ( really HOT!!!! I asked and Installer told me That's how they are!  and As I told them I.m trying to run a bussiness on this and Now have to buy more REALLY!!!! VERY UNHAPPY!!

These boxes are able to withstand heat but if you want us to look into it to make sure we don't show any faults on our end you can email us at exedelistens@viasat.com.  As for data. If you're running business on a residential plan you're going to have to really monitor your data as you're mixing business with pleasure. Not trying to be funny or anything but some business applications and some fun applications like streaming can be a major data killer and it isn't surprising to see this sort of thing happen. If you don't have it already you should do our eSVT tool.  If this is an ongoing problem of running out of data an upgrade to a higher package may save a lot of stress.

I put a fan by mine and it started working better

I went through 2 before I put a small fan blowing into the sb2+. Since then no problems. They don't believe me when I say it runs too hot. There is another problem when using a mixed network, the  local hardwired network cannot "see" the wifi network and vice-versa. So I don't use the the sb2+ as a router for my local network. If I didn't want the extra speed, I would save myself the extra money.

I put a fan to cool mine, but I think it was to late. I have to reset it numerous times a day now, or the speed drops to under 1mbps. So I'm stuck with a wounded unit until my contract is up.

Happened that way with mine except it would just go off line no drop in speed. It finally got to the point where getting it back online was a crap shoot. So I called for service. They replaced the unit and every thing was fine for about a month. Then here we go again. The power in the country can be noisy and brown outs do happen so I put it on a UPS. It helped but it did not inspire confidence so I put a fan on it and Hello, it all stopped. I didn't trust the box so I called service and they got me another. This one has been on the fan since the service tech left and zip , zero, nada problems. You don't need much of a fan. I have a USB powered fan that does the job quite well. Good Luck

I have the non- WIFI modem and it runs hot. I put a small wooden block under each end of the case to lift it up off the carpet to allow air to flow through the ventilation holes in the bottom of the case. So far so good but I may invest in a small fan

Hi NorthMN, If your modem is not working, we can create a service call to have it looked at. Please let us know. Send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com.  Your router should  be in a location that it ventilated.  This will reduce the heat that is dispensed.

I put mine on a timer to reset 2 times a day but I usually have to do it one more at night to get almost a meg
