eSVT features on modem

This is more of a request than an idea.
I think the eSVT page is a step in the right direction, but it would be very helpful if this was available on the modem itself so it could be accessed in times when the internet is out.
Granted, not all of the features would be available while offline, but there are certain things that would be nice to have.

In particular, the ability to remotely reboot the modem would be fantastic without having to load a webpage. Generally, if I'm having to reboot the modem, it is because my internet is either not working at all, or working so slowly that I can't load things.

Since the modem calculates the usage and sends it to the servers, the usage meter should be on the modem itself and perhaps the hourly usage history could be included.

Additionally, whenever maintenance is scheduled for certain beams, perhaps a message could be sent out to all of the modems in a little display frame (similar to what Blizzard has in their Battlenet client) to inform users of the time of the maintenance and expected duration. If we know in advance about it, we might be able to schedule around it. For unexpected sudden maintenance, a quick message could be sent out saying which beams are affected and have it stored on the modem and then have the status updated when maintenance is done. Obviously, there may be times when it is not possible to have an alert, but it would be very helpful when it can be done. It *might* reduce the number of calls and complaints if people know to look on their modem to see the message.

So far, other than having some login issues, I like the eSVT software. The page seems to load faster than the Dashboard. I admit, I despise the dashboard because it always takes a long time to load no matter what. I really think there should be a basic HTML version of it that we can opt in to so we don't have to mess with the flash scripts that are slow.

Ideally, having something like the eSVT software on the modem could negate the need to load the dashboard though.

Having an up-to-date usage meter would also be extremely handy. If Hughesnet could pull it off, then it shouldn't be too troublesome for Exede to do it. Hughesnet actually had a lot of the eSVT features available on the modem under the Advanced category. It even allowed for re-pointing-- although it wasn't recommended for customers to do that on their own.

The hourly usage info would be helpful when comparing data with BitMeter to see if there are discrepancies.

Hi zanne,  Thanks for the suggestion. We always appreciate feedback.  We will pass it along to our eSVT team.

Thanks, do you know if there is a solution to the problem where people go to the eSVT page and it makes them login but then redirects to login again and then goes to the Dashboard instead? I had to put the url in 5 times earlier before it worked.
Also, a direct link to the eSVT page from the Dashboard would be extremely helpful.

I am having this problem also, is there a workaround? I cannot get to the eSVT page at all.  It always redirects to Dashboard.

Hi Jill,

This is a beta-test for a much nicer looking and shinier data tool we'll release soon. It should be working normal now. Try confirming the URL, and maybe clearing your cache and cookies will help the redirect to the dashboard.

Thanks Brad.  It now gets me to the "Access Forbidden 403" screen but if I click on the highlighted word "Dashboard" in the upper left,  I can get to the data tracking page I wanted.  Appreciate the help.

Thanks Zanne. The esvt team is hard at work on the next version of the tool, which should be a big improvement. Ultimately this tool is planned to be rolled into the customer portal so there's a single sign-on to access this info along with billing, account profile, etc. It takes a little doing. The team working on new versions of our modem and other equipment is also considering ideas along the lines of what you suggested re. info right on the modem itself. We appreciate your activity on the forum -- note your new 'champion' status!

Thanks. The features on the modem would be the most convenient for me. For whatever reason, the esvt page has a redirecting problem. It's not so bad during the LNFZ, but considering that I'm trying to cut back on my usage during the day, it is a bit annoying to have to keep reloading. I know it doesn't take too much data, but every little bit counts.

I'd like to add that I would love a data usage meter that tells the actual amount of data and not just show a graph saying what kind of data was used at which hours. Knowing the specific amount of data in an hour would be very helpful for comparisons to Bitmeter and Router traffic monitoring.

I will say that I'm glad I don't have to do the static discharge on the Exede modem. I had to static discharge the coaxial cable for my Hughesnet modem at least 5 times a day toward the end. I'm glad I'm not stuck with them anymore.

Good afternoon,
I see this idea was implemented with the understanding that implemented means that the idea was approved and is now available? When I log into esvt on my phone, I don't have an option to reboot a modem offline? Is there any update to this feature? Thanks again for your team's support!

I would like to add that the ability to disable web acceleration should be added to the eSVT because sometimes the acceleration causes problems. It could also be used for some troubleshooting and disabling it could help to see if it is the problem or rule it out. It would be really nice if we could have web acceleration disabled on specific sites that are known to have problems with the software, but I'm not sure how feasible that would be.

It would be nice if users could save a copy of their preferred settings for the modem via the eSVT and have it on their computers so it can be restored if preferences ever get erased upon reboot or updates. My router has such a feature.

Is the ESVT page gone for anyone else? I keep getting 403 Forbidden when I try to load it.
