Email account disabled due to backscatter

I booted up the computer yesterday and when I accessed my wildblue email account I
found that I had literally hundreds of emails that I did not send yet they bounced back to me. I found out they are called backscatter aka collateral spam. After deleting the emails I lost access to my email account and I am unable to go in and change the password. How do I get my account back?

Hi Diana,

Thank you for responding. I did not get the log in page to display as shown by the example on the page you linked me to till I logged out. I am not having trouble logging into my account. I did try clicking on "New User" and typing in my credentials though, as I expected, the message I received was as follows:

We already have a username & password associated with this account.
If you have forgotten your username or password please try [Login Help] (button)

If I click on the Login Help button I have two options:

Reset My Password
Reset My Username

My username is my email address and I don't want to reset/change that for obvious reasons so I reset my password. That was a success. I then click on the Email Login button at the top right which takes me to the In Box log in window. When I type in my username (email address) and password (the new one) I am presented with a pink box that says Login incorrect. I do not know what to do from here.

Unfortunately I left my phone at work and have no way to contact Exede Customer Service by phone. I suppose the only other alternative is to send them an email to ask if they can reset my email account or something?!?!?!?!  Who ever is in control of the email server should change some settings to prevent deliberate bounces and keep this from happening.

Good article to read by one of my associates concerning Backscatter/Misdirected Bounces:
