It used to be that once you've signed up with Exede you are on a 24 month agreement with a termination fee of $15/month for each month remaining on the agreement.  I'm clueless on the moving part as I am not sure if you're asking about moving the service, or canceling service because you're moving.

Idea for early termination fee. We are moving from our home and into the city. Viasat refuses to waive the last 6 months of termination fees. I understand the whole 24 mo contract thing but all other providers understand and waived termination fees. So here's what's going to happen... The router and "eye" will be sent back to viasat, the satellite dish and the 125' of cable they spent 3-4 hrs installing and trenching is going to be pulled out of the ground and into the dumpster. All because they didn't want to waive $90.00. Viasat is basically all you can get in this area so the new owner can have Viasat come back out and do it all over again.

I'll definitely refer the new owner to a different provider! I already recommended Viasat when the new owner made a offer on our home, not now! Either way I'm removing the dish and the cable tomorrow and it's going in the trash. There's only 1 "line of sight" on our property and it's 125' out. Have fun trenching the cable back in.

If I am the new owner, I would demand a $1,000 off the asking price. You are now degrading the value of the property as he saw it.

But it's your property right now, do what you want.

Why should Viasat wave your last 6 months?  Because you are so special?

Not because I'm special, but because I moved into down town and they won't even allow a satellite dish on a 4 story building. Not asking for royal treatment but ,at least understand the circumstances.

Shouldn't you be mad with the 4 story building that won't allow you to have your Viasat?  I think you're ticked off at the wrong people.

Why would I even want Viasat when I can get high speed cable for half the price, tripple the speed and NO contract? Not even sure Viasat could a line if site with the buildings around me.

Tonia, I'm sorry but YOU made the choice to get Viasat which came with the 24 mon agreement and YOU are the one moving. All you are doing by showing your tail and pulling up the coax and pole is making it THAT much harder on the next installer who has NOTHING to do with Viasat except that he does installation work. In my humble opinion,, you are being a jerk.

That's kinda my point is to make Viasat PAY to have the satellite reinstalled. Way cheaper if Viasat would have just waived the termination fee. Dish Network and Direct TV has always waived the fee for me for a valid reason. Btw I have moved 5 times and this is the first company that will NOT work with me. Yes I'm being a jerk just like Viasat was with me on the phone.

Tonia, the installer gets paid a flat fee....doesn't matter if it takes him 1 hr or 6 hrs. All you did was make sure that some poor guy gets home a lot later than he normally would have. You didn't do ANYTHING to Viasat as a company, only to some individual who has done NOTHING to you.

Incidentally, you were on VS1 which has a sw view, a new install will be pointed at VS2 which has a se view so there is a VERY good chance that all your spite is for nothing.

If you sign a 2 yr contract and you KNOW you probably aren't going to fulfill it then that is all I need to know about your character.

I sell and install both Dish and DTV and have rarely heard of them not charging a term fee. They both offer a Mover's Program and will move the system for free.

Tonia, if I am the new owner then I very much appreciate that you will have removed all of that satellite-related garbage from the property.  You will have saved me the expense.

Yep.  Saving the $90 and your pride by non payment  isn't worth the damage it does to your credit report, nor the years that the damage follows you.  Just pay the $90, send back what's required and never look back.

Not everyone cares about good credit scores.
Some people lend money, not borrow it.
Some people have such a good credit ratings that one blemish means little to them.
Some people have everything they want and live within their means.
Some people deal in cash only.
Some people have friends or family that are willing to finance their needs.
You cannot view others by what applies to you.
You assume too much.

My credit score stays above 810. One time it even reached 844.

I also made 35% interest in the stock market last year. I'm at 17% so far this year.

Investing and having the ability to borrow both matter to me.

Having good credit makes it possible for me to have a low mortgage payment.

If a person wants to have a 620 credit score and pay $1,200 a month for a two bedroom apartment that's their choice.

Ivan Bludnik....

You do use the word "some".....  a lot.  You assume too little.  MOST people out there depend on good credit because they work for a living and good credit means they can live in a nice house before their kids graduate from high school.  It beats living in the absolute poorest of conditions so they can save to buy a house someday they may not need once the kids are gone to live on their own.

The real world awaits you, you just have to find it to live in it.

Mr. Rice:
"Having good credit makes it possible for me to have a low mortgage payment. "
Again, you seem to think everyone has to live by your rules.
I have no mortgage. I paid cash for my property valued at more than a million dollars.
I also pay cash for my expensive cars and other toys.
I have never borrowed money.

This reminds me of one of the cars I saw last time I went car shopping. It was a fairly new car that had been reposesed. The previous owner trashed the interior before it was reposesed.

Basically they couldn't afford the payments so they decided to get even by trashing something they didn't own. It boggles my mind how people can be so irresponsible.

Not only are you a jerk, you're an idiot.  You're going to stiff ViaSat with an expired credit card when they come collecting but you also say you're moving into an apartment while your new house is built.  What... not staying put until the new house is ready?  Oh well, you must have your reasons.  Now back to the idiot part....  Your lending institution is going to consider you for a mortgage....  based on your credit history and score.  Your new house will go straight to market when your credit no longer qualifies you for the loan and you watch someone else move in because you have crappy credit and can't qualify to get the loan on the house.  Construction loans are hard enough for most people and the final mortgage is even harder.  Yup... Idiot, just a notch above just-plain-stupid.  There again... you didn't actually say it was going to be a house... a few cardboard boxes taped together can make a "home" as plenty of people do it.

Ok let's get some facts straight here. Yes I move a lot,to the tune of 6 times in the last 20 years. We build a home and sell every 2-4 years. We live in them for at least 2 years to avoid capital gains and do it all over again. You will never get anywhere in life if you don't fight these billion dollar companies. $90 isn't much you say,but multiply that over the years and it really adds up. This will probably be my final home and will have NO contract cable HIGH speed CABLE internet! For inquiring minds,I chose the high road and left the dish and cable. Might change my mind tomorrow... Final closing on the property@1pm.

All that money you're evidently saving by avoiding capital gains and you're worried about $90, and at this point, with it being the last time?  SMH.

And, it's not like it's a choice.  You owe it, and legally so.

Viasat does charge an Early Cancellation Fee if you terminate the service prior to the completion of the agreement. If you were continuing the service that would be a different story but since the service is ending prior to the end of the agreement the fee will apply

Tonia now has 11 posts and no likes, and there is no relevance to this thread as it's been established for a very long time that if you terminate early you'll incur a fee, and fighting that fact, or bitching about it, is futile, but I get wanting to vent sometimes, even when you're wrong. Do what you feel you need to do to feel good about everything, if that's possible Tonia, and good luck.

Ok, so nothing in this thread is productive.  Tonia, you are obviously aware of the consequences of not paying your fees.  We're sorry the relationship with our company has ended on a sour note, and wish you good luck in your future endeavours.

If you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to email us at ViasatListens@viasat.com.
