Don't get this company for an internet company. I called to cancel 3 days into a month and they are keeping all of my monthly payment. I could understand if it was halfway thru a month, but 3 DAYS?!?!? What a crooked way to do business. I have been with them for 9 years and get treated this way. Really?!?! Not to mention, Their equipment doesn't work most of the month and they don't even care.

Yet you stayed with it for 9 years.  Kudos on your stamina.

I just signed up for viasat and told I was signing up for Bronze and they put me in Liberty 12. Deceptive practice. Not sure how this will be resolved.

Liberty 12GB is a much better plan than the Bronze. Bronze limits video streaming to a 1980s resolution, on Liberty you can stream video in HD if you desire. After the 12GB, you go on  the Liberty pass, and will still get speeds capable of streaming.

Count your lucky stars you didnt get the Bronze plan. It is crap. You can manage with Liberty, but take advantage of the free zone.

I thought the same. Had the service for 9 years and mad about when you cancel? When I canceled and I called to find out the latest date they needed to know without incurring another month. It is not that hard.

Most prepaid services refund money for unused days, Viasat is the only one I ever used that doesn't.

I have never seen any prepaid service refund anything. Examples would be Netflix, website subscriptions, cell phone service, etc.

Sounds like Laura was given an inaccurate sales pitch.

Many games will not work. Video buffering will occur at times, especially during times of congestion.

Now what? Am I stuck with it for two years? If not any suggestions of where to go to get the service I need?

There's a small chance you could call and ~argue to get out of the termination fee.  The fact that they told you about the half second delay, but you did not know what that meant, might be against you a little.  But, if they recorded the call, and you asked the right questions, it might be possible.

"Where to go"
Cell carriers, most hotspot/jetpack plans should work ok if you have any cell service.  Other than downloads, updates, and streaming, gaming doesn't usually take a lot of data with just the playing part, and latency is much less.  The good Verizon plan is gone, unless it's being resold on ebay, I didn't check, and I'd use caution there.  Some carriers have home cell internet in some areas, like ATT, USCellular, etc.

WISP, wireless provider, usually closer to towns in some areas, basically they'll usually put an antenna on something like a water tower, silo/grain bin, etc., then you need an antenna on your house.  Range is limited.  Best to see what any neighbors might be using.

Email Viasatlistens@viasat.com. describe what you were told, who told you, etc. They indeed might waive the term fee.

As far as what other internet, do you have options? With gamers you need something with low latency.

When you called to cancel, was the cancellation immediate or does it take effect on the last day of your current cycle?  I know that some ISPs that use forward billing will cancel the service on the last day of the cycle, unless requested otherwise.  The reason being is that it's already been paid for.  If it's requested that the cancellation be immediate, they may do so, and if so they then refund the unused portion of the month.

I don't know if this is the way that ViaSat does it, but it might be.
