I recently got exede. I love the fast service. However, I am having an issue with my McAfee. They are telling me that Exede will not allow me to update my service with them. Does anyone else use McAfee and if so, are you having issues with it?

Nancy,
We do support and recommend anti-virus software. We require all PCs connected to the Exede Internet network to run an up-to-date
copy of anti-virus software. I did some research and this link may be helpful: http://www.mcafee.com/us/support/support-help.aspx . I can review your account to see if there are any technical issues that will prevent you from updating your anti-virus software service. We can also discuss compatible browsers,OS, routers, etc. for Exede Service. Please send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com with your account information and I will be happy to discuss this further with you.

Thanks, ExedeCrystal

I have had Exede for two years now and have been using McAfee Anti-Virus software without any problems on all three of our computers.

Can you give me any ideas of what may be happening that it will not update? The techs only seem to want to re-install it, then two of them wanted to take out IE and re-install it. Now the last one tells me that satellite and Exede have issues. I can't help but think that it is something minor but they do no seem to want to check that out. I am not smart on the ins and outs of technology.

Nancy, a couple of things to check, what IE are you on? Microsoft has started to the updates witout pausing to ask if you want to upgrade. I have mine on IE 9, as some sites have problems with IE 10 and IE 11. This should not stop the McAfee updates as they run in the back ground ( I would think) If you are on anything above IE9 I would remove and see if it helps. The McAfee, is it anti-virus and spyware or is it the Full Internet Suite or whatever they call it. For the most part the anti-virus / spyware do what you need and when you get into the Full Network Security stuff it will slow the pc down and have other problems like connecting to some sites or email. But that should not be the case if the McAfee is trying to connect to its own site. But for a test try disable it and see if it will update. And the techs are correct that sometime a remove, reboot (better shut down) and re-install can fix some problems as you are having.

Hope this Helps

Thanks, Michael. I have IE 9 which is the highest that works with vista. I am at this time able to update the McAfee which is a anti-virus plus program. I changed my updates to have them let me know when one is available and  I have to do it manually. Whether it will still work after the 8 day frame of time they gave me remains to be seen. Supposedly they are still working on a solution to the automatic update. I agree that it seems silly that McAfee cannot find the problem with McAfee. They were blocking some of their own things. It has been re-installed at least 3 times by the techs.

I was hoping to get more feedback from Steven Frederick since he said he had McAfee and Exede.

A big thanks to ExedeCrystal who has been great about checking in to see if things have been fixed.

Nancy, I have had no issues with McAfee installing or updating automatically.  I am currently using IE11, Chrome and Firefox as browsers with no issues, Windows 7 64 bit for my operating system on all three computers we use.  My antivirus software is the McAfee AntiVirus Plus version.  I have Exede 12 for my ISP.
