This is a question for the Exede reps on  the board.  My daughter works nights, so naturally she is able to take advantage of the LNFZ sometimes when she is off simply because she is used to being up that time of day for work.  She commented to me that it often seems like it is slowing down quite a bit at times.  Not a huge problem for us but it led to me wondering if Exede does restrict any type of downloading during the LNFZ or if it is just a "free for all"? I was thinking about torrent and similar types of services where people are able to download massive amounts of data.  Mostly just curious about how you may or may not regulate overnight hours.

What I have experienced during the LNFZ is at times the traffic is just so high that speeds slow down. Too many users downloading and streaming videos causes a bottleneck. It usually speeds up after 3 a.m.. Many people are using download schedulers, those first few hours are the popular times for the downloads.

I see the same thing here in Virginia.  Midnight until 2am are often slow because of user saturation.

not slow at all when it isn't down.  I usually do my work and upload 2gb to 5gb files then.

Interesting observations that you have also noted in your part of the country..  I am waiting to learn if Exede is restricting anything at all or if they allow all types of downloading with no restrictions at all. We experience this primarily from 3 to 5 am when the two free zones overlap( we have 3 to 8) at least from what my daughter said.  I note no difference from 6 to 8 am when I am usually up having my coffee.

This is a great question.  We do not restrict the size of downloads during the LNFZ.  We actually recommend you do your larger downloads during the LNFZ.  Your daughter may be experiencing some congestion depending on the time she is using the LNFZ, especially if it's at the start of the LNFZ.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to send an email to
