Our speed is really slow and someone told us that we should get a repeater to improve the speed

They were likely referring to a cellular repeater or signal booster, which do not work on satellite services. Similarly there are some WIFI extenders which will boost a router's wireless signal in your home but typically these are used in very large homes (outside of my price range) and simply relocating the router or re-positioning the antenna (if so equipped) suffices for most homes. None of that will affect your internet speed however.

First you should test your speed, bypassing any router you may have, by connecting a computer directly to the ViaSat modem. Use testmy.net for the speed test.

If the speed remains slow without the router, your best bet is to send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com along with your account and contact information (do not post here since this is a public forum).

If the speed is acceptable without the router, it may be necessary to tweak some of your router's settings, but suggestions require knowing your router's brand and model number (even then some routers don't play well with Exede).

Jacque, good tips above from Old Labs. If it is a distance issue with your router, I'd suggest poking around on Amazon to see some of the wifi extenders available. They range from fairly inexpensive gizwoggers you plug into an outlet to more spendy doohickies that look more like routers. We don't provide them.
To Old Labs' point about cellular network extenders (also knowns as femto cells), we have tested a number of these and/or heard from users on a couple of different cell service providers and most of them do appear to work with our service.

While they work with Exede, they don't provide any increase in Exede speed just cellular.

However I do recall some past discussions that an empty Pringles can attached to the TRIA does ;)

P.S. It appears you guys stole that idea with SpeedBoost - Everett should have patented it ;)
