It is a streaming device that lets you watch anything thru the internet. It hooks to your tv and uses internet for new movis, sports with no additional cable fees, only high speed internet

Streaming devices *should* work on Exede, as long as they don't have an issue with the ~700 ping rates.  They can cause timeout errors, which will interrupt your videos.  I'd suggest contacting the company, and finding out what requirements they have for operation.

But be aware, streaming video uses your data faster than most realize.

I don't stream video, I mostly just watch live tv on it, does that take up a lot of data too? Last month I did fine but this month I was having trouble so i kept updating it, unknowingly lost all my data gb half way thru the month. I am just trying to figure out how to best use it since i already bought it. Any help would be appreciated. The only requirements the company has is internet must be over 15 speed, that is why I went with exede in my rural area not realizing i had that limited of data at 150Gb the salesman told me I would never use all that. yeah right

Watching live shows via the internet IS streaming Diane. That is going to use your data quickly. HD shows will use about 1 GB per hour, SD just a quarter of that, if you can control the definition Dragon Box allows.

I would bet that more of your data went to watching (Streaming) shows that went to updates.

Perhaps get some of your favorites on DVD, or purchase and download a few movies that you can watch repeatedly when you find you have a few extra GB at the end of the month and, cut back on the Live shows a bit. The Freedom plan is the best for streaming, but even then you do have to limit your hours of live programing a bit.

Also, review these articles, they will help you.

I have the freedom plan. The only reason I got the box was to watch all the football games, I am so disappointed that someone was not honest with me from the start. The salesperson knew that was why I was getting exede to run the dragon box. Do you know if all live football games are in HD? I don't know how t control it

Diane, yes, the football games are all in HD. As to the 700 ms ping, that is typical with the satellite internet. The typical range is 650 to 750 ms. The satellite is 22,500 miles from your location, in an orbit above the equator. the signal must make that trip 4 times, 2 round trips, thus the large latency. There is no way to lower that, it is due to the speed of light, the same as the satellite signal travels.

I think football and the Friday Night movie should be fine. :) Yes, most football games are HD. I am not familiar with Dragon Box, it may have settings to set resolution or video quality, the lower the better for saving data. If it has such setting, set those as low as you can accept watching.

yes, i had no idea how it worked and i was leaving the box on all day when i was gone so i am sure that was a big part of the problem, it stalls after a few hours but eeek. It has a setting for 1080 resolution or the lower 760? would that matter?

Diane, the 760 setting would certainly save you data.
