I have Exede, and in general it is a good service.  I work away from home for 6 week contracts 3 times a year, and it would be nice to "PAUSE" the account, for at least a month (although 6 weeks would be nicer) to save money at the $9.99 monthly rate while I'm not using data.  I was disappointed to find out from customer service that the minimum "Vacation" is 2 months.  First off, most Americans only get 2 WEEKS of vaca but for those who must be away and pause the service, it would be reasonable to do this, extending the contract appropriately, so everybody is happy, Exede makes money, and I don't pay for wasted subscription when I can't use it in the first place.  I think that with automation, computer controls etc., this could even be offered on a week to week basis, but then WTF do I know?

Hi Colorado Bobby,  We have a lot of customers that only use their internet a few months out of the year because they have 2 homes. That is what we have the Vacation package for, its meant to be used for a longer period of time. I definitely understand that if we offered it for 30 days instead of 60 that would be more beneficially for your situation. If you have more questions about the Vacation package please let me know and feel free to send me an email to =)

I agree with Colorado Bobby - most folks don't get month after month of vacation. WHY doesn't Exede offer vacation pause on a weekly basis? I understand the equipment is sitting there whether we are home or not and am not contesting the equipment lease portion of the monthly charge, but why should we customers have to pay for the data portion of the plan when we are not home to use it? In fact, why don't we get to carry over ALL the unused data from month to month since we PAID for it?

Irwin, the Hibernation plan is really intended for people who divide their time among more than one residence. It does often get referred to as the Vacation plan, which causes some confusion, but it's really meant as a longer term option.

I certainly understand your feelings on it, and we're always considering additional options for handling data.
