Disconnected with no warning or solution

We are moving, and have to take the new internet offered in our community. So I called to ask for a cancellation of current internet service as we are trying to change everything over. Representative was very short in dialogue and didn't communicate well, just said "hold on a second", and she disconnected us right that instant! Why? I didn't ask for that, and what service changes like this happens instantaneously! I asked to be reconnected as we still have time living here and we've paid for this period and they can't reconnect me with out a 24 month contract. How is that possible you can be instantaneously disconnected and it can't be undone?! You flipped a switch one way, and now that's just not possible. Way to ruin an otherwise great service experience. Train your service people better to avoid this situation, and don't have policies that you can't fix for your human error.

Nathan, you should send an email explaining this to one of the Exede Moderators at exedelistens@viasat.com. I am sure they can fix you up.

YIKES!  Don't blame you for being shocked.  I would have expected that the exede rep would be asking you why you wanted to disconnect, and trying to keep you as a customer.  Hope you can get this corrected.

Costumer service is most important in a company especially if one deals with people. Orr the happiness of  them. Who wants to sell crap? OR be unfriendly to those who pay the bill? Taking pride in helping others, be friendly to them and to oneself that's good feeling! You got double whammy'it cut off with bad attitude that's two. I am certain a nice person will help you. Please let me know how it went or what I can do to help= sending Aloha from East Maui.

I have had far better luck here or on f/b, The waiting if calling and then I never could get anything done, but all in all I like this internet.
