Difference between dashboard data used and text alerts

I am showing .5 GB difference between the two. Texts show 14.7GB used. The dashboard shows 15.2GB used. I have 150GB on Silver unlimited, so it’s not an issue. I had no power yesterday, so I didn’t stay at the house. Now unless something came on and updated itself, why the difference? I say the last statement because someone will say the system has to “catch up”. There’s been plenty of time to do that. Anyone else notice a difference in data usage displayed between the two?

When I was on the 10GB plan half a gig would be a nights usage. That’s a big deal for small plans and people managing data.

I'd heard the dashboard data usage tool can lag behind actual usage.  I haven't signed up for text yet.

Thanks. I’ve only had text alerts for a week. It’s been the same every day until today. I haven’t used data for two days from my plan.

what did your  router, you know, the one that tracks data, have to say about the usage?

Dish misalignment and other things may use data in the form of retransmission errors.

Honestly worth every penny.

Tracks data overall, per device, shows hours of operation overall and per device and programs and processes that used data per device.

Just installed the Exede router this week. Haven’t got around to messing with settings or trying any software to track usage. Good idea though. Was more wondering why the difference in the two systems today more than the actual usage. Could have very well been the satellite constantly reconnecting last night as power was off and on intermittently for hours as I understand. I’ll keep checking text alerts for an update, but no devices were on in the house. Half a gig to reconnect would certainly make people think twice about rebooting the modem a few times.

Hi Bradley,
I gave a heads-up about this to our team here that oversees these tools. You may receive an email from them asking for more details so we can get to the bottom of this. Thanks for alerting us to the apparent discrepancy!
