Dear Viasat and every Viasat customer.

Dear Viasat and everyone who has this service. I may only get one shot at saying this. But I truly do hope it does get through to some people as customers and even the people at Viasat and the very top of Viasat. So here goes nothing.

I truly did love you to with all my heart Viasat. When I first signed up with you guy's. I was so happy to see a Internet Service Provider that was willing to provide me some internet at my home. It was like a dream come true for me. To have Internet in my owm name for once. I never thought that I would be able to do it. So as time progressed on. I truly didn't know much about how satellite internet worked. I basically did research after I got it. So after finding how satellite internet worked. I tried to help people as much as I can and so on. Then after all that hard work and so on. I came onto this very forum to find out that I was a champion on here. I was truly happy and very excited and but at the time I didn't know what a champion was. So I looked it up and so on. I was actually shocked myself. I literally just couldn't be so happy and overwhelmed with all these emotions I had at the time.

So I did my best as a champion on here to help one another with their issues on here. I also took my very own time to even write some praise of my very own. So basically I was Viasat's Cheerleader to show how happy I was with Viasat and how it works. (I guess you can say that if I helped of how it works. I don't know if I did. But it's Ok.) I learned a lot and observed of how to help one another. Even though my grammar wasn't very good at the time. I'm trying to fix my grammer as much as I can. So basically I still have to work on that a little bit myself. So don't worry about that. Because I have to work on that myself. It's called, "With enough effort into it and it'll all be paid off in the end."

So anyways I was able to do stuff with Viasat that I couldn't do before. Like download my Anime's, Watch YouTube Videos, Do Social Media from time to time. Ya know the whole shabootle. I was very happy, But I didn't see no one else being happy with their Internet Services. So I did as much praises as I could to keep everyone happy and positive and look at it from a different point of view. I tried my hardest to try and get everyone to open up their big ol' eyes. (The big ol' eyes was a tic I used to say when I was little. I do have Tourettes Syndrome. As it was confirmed by a Neruologist. I thought I was diagnosed with something else. But once I have accepted Tourettes Syndrome as a part of me. It became a whole lot easier. Because Tourettes Syndrome made me who I am today. If their was a cure for Tourettes Syndrome. I wouldn't take it personally. As I will not be the same Deku as everyone else who knows me as of today.)

But as I stated before, My praise's did work out in the end to a degree in some way that I thought was good at the time being. But in all seriousness, I honestly wished I never praise Viasat so much in my life. I was way to Naive. Now that I think back on it. It was all nothing but a complete joke to me now. Because I was able to somewhat attract some customers here because of all the praising I did for Viasat. That is why I said before I wished I never Praised Viasat in the first place. All the my precious time and effort including my typing. All went down the drainage. That is how I honestly feel right about now.

All I have to say to Viasat the company themselves is this. Why did you guy's had good intentions of doing good in the firet place. But yet in the end, You guy's don't care about residential anymore? Is all that money you guy's have in your pockets enough for your satisfaction? Is the greediness of money getting to your guy's head? If so, Why even bother of wanting to do good intentions in the first place and then once money starts flowing in. It's lile you guy's forgotten about what you guy's wanted to do in the first place. My ma always told me that once a person starts makes mega bucks. They will forget their friends that they had beforehand and start making new friends and hanging out with them. Because the friend that stood by them was no longer in their life. But karma is horrible to everyone. Karma is in fact real. I've witnessed it first hand. Not only my ma and I. But everyone that is involved with me or communication/customer with me in real life or online thing's work out for those people who does good. But Karma has always had a minimal impact on my ma and I. But the people who did wrong to my ma and I. Karma did really bad thing's to them that I don't want to go into details. Karma did really good things to my ma and I so now we are good as of right now. If people say Karma isn't real. Then I do have a really good 1 or 2 stories to tell you guy's. If you guy's don't believe in Good Karma and Bad Karma.

Anyhoo! I'm going too go play my Nintendo Switch. So I hope you guy's have a good morning/afternoon/evening/night.

As always. ~KEEP IT PLUS ULTRA STYLE~

Well said Deku.   I'm a newbie as I've only been here ~14 mos. I'm on the Silver 25-150 Unlimited plan ans fortunately I haven't been affected as severely as most on this plan.  I left Verizon for their ever changing plans and their wordsmithing of "Unlimited".  At least the Viasat Unlimited throttling doesn't happen until 150 Gb and I have yet to exceed 50 Gb so I'm golden.    Nahhh.  Wrong.

From 'The Famous Letter' 25 Mbps is the median we should expect in any 24 hr period.  But what recourse do we have if service does not meet that criteria?  None that I can tell.  I do see speeds over 25 Mbps which I never saw prior to the policy change but I've traded that for severe speed reduction during primetime.  Latest speed test below.

test done using speedtest.net @7:10 pm

Harvey, have you looked into the Verizon Prepaid unlimited? It is totally separate and different than the regular Verizon cellphone accounts. It truly is unlimited unless there is congestion. Where we are, it is fantastic. It probably does vary depending on location, but if you aren't in a super congested area, it may be a good way to go.

@ Deku,

Learning grammar isn't hard at all, here's a sample...

Adjectives in English absolutely have to be in this order: opinion-size-shape-color-origin-material-purpose Noun.   So you can have a lovely little old rectangular green French silver whittling knife.  But if you mess with that word order in the slightest you'll sound like a maniac.  It's an odd thing that every English speaker uses that list, but almost none of us could write it out.  And as size comes before color, green great dragons can't exist.

HI Deku (and of course the others on here)

Believe me when I say I take absolutely no joy in seeing you or others being miserable over this change. I fully understand the frustration over this.

With that said, we ARE seeing some that switch to another unlimited plan or Liberty plan are seeing a night and day difference. I understand the objection of doing that as some indicated it may cost more to do so and there's not as much priority data  IF it's something you can do financially and can work with by saving some of those larger downloads for after peak hours a switch should be a night and day difference.

Again you are free to do what works for you. If you want to stay put and ride it out to see if things level out please do that. I also understand why some may be seeking alternative service as the policy was changed.

Brad, I saw a night-and-day difference when I upgraded from Evolution 5 to Unlimited Silver 150 a year ago, and was a very happy camper until Viasat decided to cripple my plan in an attempt to bully me into 60Gb plan for the same money. Now I'm back to Evolution 5 performance (without the free zone) for twice the money, and there's not a damn thing I can do about it.

Do you honestly think I would trust Viasat for a new plan? Not on your life, my friend.

If you guy's are going to be talking about this M*A*S*H series and whatever you talk about. At least make a different Forum or Topic about this stuff
Seconded. I also have noticed a tendency among some of the longtime members to start jibber-jabbering among themselves in the middle of someone's thread, or start smarting off with "is it the weekend already?" type of comments.

When I voice a grievance here, I'm hurting, guys, or I'm hopping mad, (or, like the last month, both), and I think most of the OP's here would appreciate having a chance to vent their pain and discuss their issues without a lot of pointless crosstalk.

Very good answer.  If all went according to ViaSat's plan, once everyone was where ViaSat wants them, speeds would tank again and we'd be back to the same old "congestion" blame game all over again.

Let's not forget ViaSat's claims before ViaSat-2 was operational, when they were saying things like "data caps will be a thing of the past."  There are places that aren't getting a ViaSat-2 signal as a result of the antenna problem, but where it does cover, there is no excuse for such poor plans and speeds, especially when ViaSat is signing up more and more sales partners and extending their service into Mexico, and bragging about all the airlines they have connected and about to be connected.  ViaSat is telling investors how flush with bandwidth they are, but what about residential?  It is interesting that most of the questions investors asked ViaSat at the conclusion of their Q3 earnings call were about how the residential sector is doing and ViaSat deflected on every one of those questions.

Some may think I'm back, but not really.  It was Deku's post that was "the straw that broke the camels back."   I may disappear again now, it all depends on what ViaSat has to say.

I really do feel for all of you that are having to deal with this.  Being that I don't have ViaSat, I've never really talked it up, nor down, other than letting people know of the primary drawbacks to satellite internet in general.  But I can say that I find what's happening to be egregious enough to be less likely to recommend it to anyone who's having issues with HughesNet, which I've done a few times in the past, just as I have the other way.

I know that contracts are what they are, with nearly all of them being written with the caveat that things can change, and they are allowing those affected out of their contracts without penalty if they wish to do so, but none of that negates the fact that what's happening must feel like a rude slap in the face to so many of you.  :(

I had the Impossible Burger at Hard Rock Cafe last night. It’s the first vegetarian burger I’ve ever had that I’ve actually enjoyed.

Take my advice and don’t ever try the Beyond Burger. That thing is nasty.

The Impossible Burger is where it’s at (I’ve got two turn tables and a microphone). Tastes like a real burger and it’s 100% plant based.

Many of us are 100% content with Viasat. It seems on here it is the same people obsessing over a company change. The same dozen or so people. Over and over. The majority of Viasat customers are content. Someone mentioned 70% are dissatisfied. Really??? Why don’t all of the dissatisfied customers just discontinue your service??? They will let you out of your contract. Go use HughesNet or Verizon. It’s been weeks now of nonstop whining on this board. What do you all do when your favorite tv show or breakfast cereal is discontinued? You have many options people. Please do something, anything other then carrying on and creating conspiracy theories about a company that completely acted within their legal rights. We are LUCKY to have satellite internet at all!!! Do you really think your $50 - $150 a month remotely covers the cost of a satellite? Or even the daily operations? VS2 cost 629 million!!! Divide that by $100 a month. I’ll wait. Viasat has to operate at a profit to continue to offer services and to expand services to satisfy everyone. Move on people. Move on.

I know you guy's are trying to cheer me up and so on. I truly do appreciate it. But, one thing I'd like to point out quickly. This goes for everyone. That is why I did @everyone.

*Deku's right face is twitching trying not to get angery or yell in all CAPS*

I'm saying this in a calm, polite, and civilized way. Can you guy's please not go off topic of the main reasons I posted this? Because I'm sick and tired of everyone NOT STICKING to the MAIN topic itself. But please I ask ya guy's what 1 time and this is the 2nd time I have to ask you guy's not to do this.

*Deku grit's his teeth and trying to remain calm and neutral while smiling with his face twitching*

So please can you guy's create another topic for off topic conversation? Thank you!

P.S. My right side of my face was twitching and I was griting my teeth. I too was in fact smiling and trying to keep a cool head. That is true as I'm typing this. So good day!

Unfortunately, it's Get Satisfaction themselves.  They're the company that hosts this support community.  It was one of the reasons (among many) that HughesNet went with their own support community and closed the old on on Get Satisfaction. I originally thought the issue was caused by GetSat not getting along well with satellite internet's high latency, but it happens with people that use low latency, ground based services, as well.  A GetSat glitch that needs to be fixed.  And yes, it's an extremely annoying one.

Why even bother commenting on this post in the first place then? If you're going to complain about reading too much and to summarize it in 3 sentences. Then go somewhere else and do that. But not on here.

Plus, I guess people these days always expect everything on a Silver Platter with everything handed to them with a Fancy Waitress at their Services.

give it time Nathan will be very upset with Viasat everyone ends up that way cause they ARE going to screw him over once he gets settled into things right now Viasat 2 is going to run great to get sales once they load up everything will go down the drain there again like Viasat 1 .... I have seen this ever since back in 2005 during wildblue times all of a sudden when new plans come up all old plans go down the crapper

Im also one of the ones who got hit by the new policy and it was bad i mean bad my area is so badly congested that they no longer offer service period in my area and during off peak hours even when your data is not used up your lucky to get and im being dead frigin serious more than 1-2mbps. and since i honestly have no other alternative  and really on this for work and school for me and my family i was forced to go to viasat 2 fro more money than what i pay now to keep close to the same data and speed. I even had to go as far as to drop other bills so i could afford the new plan this is wrong very wrong and i do not see how they are and will get away with this legally. They said they would not do this to us but i said it then and i was right that when net neutrality was dropped they would show they're true colors and they did with this policy change to force people to choose another plan by making this plan crap.

And the most disconcerting result from this is they will gut any plan at any time to suit their end game. You’ve been forced to the “new plan” and who knows when they will do another “plan policy update” on that plan, forcing more and more money out of us for less and less data. No one can feel comfortable and secure with their selective plan degradation. What level of service we sign up for is not what we end up with. It’s much worse than what had been offered. Thanks viasat for pushing this much abuse on customers simply because you don’t want to honor the original plan. You have stepped on a lot of people and it’s not going unnoticed.

biggest issue is if we keep allowing people like them and other companies to get away with this its going to just keep happening. We the people are really to blame for these practices happening because we do not stand against them. Thats whats wrong with everything today we no longer fight back we just stand there and either take it or just bark and never once even bite. Biggest issue is no one has the bravery to be a martyr anymore. And if you look historically there have been many lawsuits against large companies like these for this kinda practice and all cases have one in favor of the consumers. But problem is the just keep happening or in the case of ATT they just change they're name or split into other companies being ran by the same large company. Once upon a time ATT was sued by a 80 year old couple for something similar and won the lawsuit. The lawsuit was so bad the company split itself into a bunch of smaller companies then once the original agreement was up they purchased themselves back up to make it look like a large business merger under one company..... ATT Btw that all happened back in the 70-80's if i remember the time it occured correctly.

This has nothing to do with net neutrality. People hear a buzz word and think if something happens to their internet it is because something did or did not happen with government regulation.
