I moved out of my last location just over a month ago.  At that time I unhooked all of my Exede equipment, including unmounting the dish and pulling the post that it was mounted on out of the ground.  Since then, the dish and modem have been sitting in my camper unplugged.

Today is the day my usage reset.  Given the current state of my equipment, could somebody from Exede explain how you justify claiming that I have downloaded 14.5 GB in one day?  On equipment that hasn't been mounted or powered up for over a month?

Exede is a joke.  I had been planning to have the dish remounted and finish out my contract, but after seeing this there's no way I'll be continuing to be an Exede customer.

Come on, Exede folks...  I really do want to hear this explanation...  Take a shot at it, give us all a good laugh...

The tabulation of use is not on Exede servers or ground stations, it is reported by your modem. You need to re-connect everything so the modem can go through it's reset procedure. The usage meter is still showing the last update of data used at the time you dis-connected everything.

If you had read the notice below the data usage meter you would have seen this:

Your “Current Data Usage” is intended to be used as a guide to help you monitor your usage. It can take up to 24 hours to reflect updates. If your modem is currently offline, your “Current Data Usage” will not be updated.

Re-connect everything?

You're kidding, right?  I'm not going to pay an installer to come mount and aim the dish just to reset the usage meter on a service that I have no intention of keeping.

It really doesn't matter WHAT they have printed on the web page, the facts boil down like this:  1.) I am now entering the second billing cycle where the equipment has not seen electricity for the entire billing cycle.  2.)  Exede still claims I'm over my data allowance.

That's pretty much the only relevant information.  Their method of tracking usage is clearly and demonstrably inaccurate, even though they charge a lot of people a lot of extra money based on that information.

It's incompetent at best.  At worst it's dishonest and borders on fraudulent.

Granted their system should show 0 usage even if the modem is offline at the start of the new billing cycle but as Craig stated the count comes from the modem so if everything is offline then its not going to update exede.  Also if everything is laying in the floor of your camper and you dont want to set it back up then why not just cancel the service and save your self that $60 a month for the service you're not using.

Why don't I cancel my service?

Did you miss the part where I said "there's no way I'll be continuing to be an Exede customer"?

Hi Corey, I agree with our forum champion Craig, the meter reading that you’re viewing is actually the data usage based off the last consumption your modem reported before you disconnected everything. Once you reconnect your services you meter will then provide actuate info.
