Please send an email over to us at exedelistens@viasat.com and we'll be able to review your usage. Things like updates have been sneaky and is a usual suspect.

Please email us at exedelistens@viasat.com so we can do a review of your data. Some things that may go unnoticed such as updates that run in the background can take a HUGE bite out of your data.

As noted context matters, and it's difficult enough to keep discussions within context even within the context of this forum or even a single thread and you've just demonstrated my point.
I have no argument with her using any content I've provided here or anywhere as long as it's kept within full context and referenced by a link rather than cherry-picking statements that suit her agenda.
In my case she's not only copied something out of context but coupled it with false information stating "This is the response from Exede" - some might call that "fake news".
Whether you approve or disapprove or her doing that with your post is your decision.
A similar argument can be made against the moderators here deleting posts - by doing so they change the context of the discussion and the full discussion becomes unavailable taking on an entirely different tone in some cases. I'm in favor of letting even the nastiest replies remain - even they have some value in evaluating the poster's credibility and only reflect upon the posters themselves.
As far as mysterious or unaccounted data usage goes (I.e. your issue since it's also unclear which of my posts above you're referring to), my advice stands - independently monitor your usage to verify the the accuracy or inaccuracy of Exede's usage claims. At worst you'll find it is something you can address and at best you'll have some information with which to argue your case against Exede. Post that compelling evidence here and I as well as many others will stand by your claim.
P.S. Believe it or not, I'm actually interested in seeing how Samantha's effort goes - not because I support it, but because I'd like to see how she's going to get around the binding arbitration clause in her (and everyone else's) customer agreement. That will be her first challenge since the courts have already deemed those legal.
At the same time, her Go Fund Me page should eventually serve as a relative gauge of the amount of genuine interest in pursuing a class action.
Sorry for my habit of numerous edits I find it necessary to avoid arguments by providing clarity or additional context.

I also agree with Old Labs regarding context.
Samantha comes off, to me at least, as someone on a Deep Pockets Mission. She is not interested in finding the root cause of her perceived problem, she is looking for a Pay Day.
There had been a number of replies to her scattered posts giving her outlines to follow in curing her issue, She never responded to a single one, continuing to post comments that some may consider intended to incite rather than address the problem.
I think it would be absolutely hilarious if she found a way around the arbitration clause, found an Attorney to take the case before a Judge and when asked "what troubleshooting steps have you taken to determine the cause of the problem" is forced to reply "well, I just KNOW it has to be their fault".
All she need do is buy a router that tracks data usage and she will have her answer the very first day.

Meanwhile, Samantha continues her sloppy copy/paste crusade for those interested (the link's above) - now there are some real chuckles - as she erroneously attributes certain statements to me - I'd be fine if she'd simply learn how to read correctly ;)
Getting back on topic here for everyone not named Samantha, show us some evidence of your data use that you've collected, how it was collected, and not Exede's claim - this is a customer to customer self-help forum and not a direct support forum. The official response from a moderator will be send an email to... you know the drill and good luck with that.
Will Exede accept that evidence? No, but we'll support your claim if it can be shown that it is an Exede issue as it continues to go unaddressed by Exede/ViaSat and there's always a chance you missed or overlooked something. At best as a group we can only force ViaSat to be a little more transparent about what counts as usage, since I have my own suspicions what can also cause these unaccounted spikes that go beyond the user's local environment. How many of those having problems have the new Exede WiFi modem not the original modem only?
Apparently Samantha, no longer has that option and the moderators appear to have banned her. With that the moderators have deleted context out of this thread - a sloppy practice I'm strongly opposed to since now everybody reading this is probably thinking.... and just who the hell is Samantha??? I see no Samantha here! I guess you had to be there when the tree fell in the forest. Who knows what else I missed from her? Sorry folks, I'd battle her there but even her latest false attribution isn't enough to get me to sign up for Facebook to correct the record. So if you're listening Samantha, double check the accuracy of your latest post on Facebook - I'm done with you and fully expect this thread to be archived or deleted by the moderators soon. I'm done with the moderators too.
Edited for grammar/spelling so as not to offend Ms. Kane - my junior high school English teacher ;)

if i must put it to easy understand it means for you guys that are older... once you used ALL of your data... then you go into passing mode which will be like letting you into internet access BUT at a slower pace than anyone else... there easy to understand yet??? if not then read it onto your own time...
also i have the freedom plan the 150gbs one. and imma fine i can use youtube my cell phone (which i always have it connected to wifi at all times and hardly uses data :3 ) and i tend to always have my videos onto my fb to set to not auto play... its easy to find it into your settings... also... someone else COULD be using your wifi... also.... just dont download big data files...
also couple more things... YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO MANAGE YOUR DATA!!! that is a BIG thing... its NOT that hard to manage your data -_- (well for me imma fine cause ive been doing it for 2 years NOT to late to learn it though... ) ALSO!!! people tend to complain and whine about there data being gone... WHICH is onto there end they USE UP ALL the data themselves... and yet DONT realize it... and also updates onto your computer can do it also... windows 10 have automatic updates... which you can find youtube videos of it to turn it off... (AGAIN IF i have to put it simply for you older peoples then... look it up onto youtube... -_- )
also your modem could be doing auto updates... the modem itself is connected through the satillite which it brings and sends data out to the satillite also... when there is an update for the modem... there is no way of stopping it... cause it HAS to update by itself... so yeah... if ya ever need any more infomation then look it up onto youtube...
ALSO!!! make sure to put ALL video onto youtube 380p or 480p NOT HD as it can use up MOST of your data... ALSO!!! make sure you have a router that has a secure password so no one can hack into it...

The same advice holds for others in this thread unable to get a hold on their data usage - invest in a router with robust traffic monitoring and analysis. Other more affordable options exist. Only that way can you easily verify the accuracy or inaccuracy of the usage meter. If accurate you can make adjustments and if inaccurate you can make a better case that data is being "stolen" (experience shows that it typically isn't and can be attributes to something on your home network).
