Some wireless routers have built in traffic monitoring. If you are using Windows computers, you can download the free program Glasswire. It will only monitor the computer it is installed on, so if you have multiple computers, you will need to install it on each one.

Glasswire does not show data used by other deices, such as TVs, DVRs, Xboxes, and smart phones. That is why I have a wireless router that monitors and displays all data going to and from the internet.

Glasswire can be downloaded at

Hi Lindy,

There are a number of Asus router models that have the "traffic analyzer" function and also run the Merlin firmware that enhances certain functions.

Your router is an ideal place to track what devices have/are connected as well as how much data each device used and when. In a general sense you can also see what types those connections consisted of.

Here are some screenshots from my Asus RT-AC3100:

This is a list of the Asus router models that have the traffic analyzer function and can run the Merlin firmware:

Some models can be somewhat pricey so shop around. Some models can be found as factory refurbs with full factory warranties at places such as among others.

I use the router info to track usage across the entire network and compare total usage to that claimed by my ISP. I will then use a program like the free version of Glasswire to give a much more in depth report of individual processes once a given machine has been singled out.

You could try looking here if you bought your service directly from Exede and not through a reseller. Click on the View Usage Data button.

My rep was able to tell me what the data usage was by category when we talked to him over the phone. Isn't that information available on-line for the customer somewhere?

Yes, it is a tool called MyeSVT, and is available to those customers who have their Exede internet directly from Exede/ViaSat. It is not available to thoe who have subscribed through any of the many wholesalers like AT&T, Directv, DishNet, or others.

Go to and sign in using the same credentials as you use to get to the Exede Dashboard

And just to add to Steve's comments, keep in mind that if you utilize this tool it is a beta test for the version our customers see. We used this as a trial to gather information to build our new tool/data meter that we'll be releasing soon.
