Data Issues STILL

I have had Exede since summer of 2015. In that time I have spent countless hours searching through this forum to see if there were solutions to my problems(I have to look when I'm at work or I use all of my data at home). I have 18g liberty plan which my priority data seems to always be gone before the second week of each month.  I've gone to all of the tips and tricks on here, called and checked to see where we were using data, and became the data Nazi at my house. :(  after a few months of no change, I really have no idea what devices are connecting to my internet. Customer service gives me some crazy list that I cannot tell what they are and they can't tell me which one is the offender. my router has a password and anyone that would try to use it would have to go way off the beaten path anyway. I can't control what I cannot identify. I am beyond frustrated and have reached the angry stage. I don't stream movies (wish I could), some short videos are watched through facebook. most of what we do is general surfing. the priority data packages are too small for any realistic kind of internet use. the frustrating part is I call cust serv. and get one person that truly seems like they want to help me but cannot, then the next day I have someone telling me that I absolutely am streaming movies (WHAT???)  and that the data usage is normal and there is not a problem.  I am officially out of priority data with 21 days to go until I get more. hmmm. nope no problem.  I tried to use the liberty pass yesterday morning to place an ad on a sale site. it took me 1.5 hours to complete the task. this consisted of fighting with the modem, and restarting my computer and opening and closing the webpage before I was able to even try uploading pictures.

I feel like the service was sold as something that it isn't. I get the limitations on satellite internet. I will get rid of it as soon as I can.  I know someone here that has exede  and has unlimited priority data and pays the same as I do and loves it. how they got that I don't know, but even a reasonable amount of priority data for a reasonable cost would be better than what I'm dealing with now.

as of now I hate my exede.

First, what APPLICATIONS do the device you have connected use? That's how ESVT and therefore Exede identifies them. SO a computer might be iOS Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.... A phone could be Windows, iOs, Android and could be mis identified as an iPhone if it happens to be an android or windows phone and you use Safari for the browser on it.

Also multiple computers that use the same browser can be identified as one computer.

Windows 7 and 8/8.1 are bad for trying to download Windows 10 and 10 is bad for gobbling up data that you are not aware of it using. A bit of searching will tell you how to prevent updating to windows 10 or how to make it see that you have a metered connection as well as how to stop it form being a peer to peer update client and UPLOADING updates to other internet users without asking you if it can send the updates out over the internet.

For us (family of two, with one home only on weekends, no streaming, no large downloads other than OS and antivirus updates 1 to 1.5 GB per day is not unreasonable, that's average so 18 GB in 15 or so days, not unreasonable.

We have one desktop that is using windows 8.1. I followed directions I found somewhere on this forum to set up it up to not access cloud anything. No auto updates. 3 iphones, one android and 2 ipads that have all auto updates, auto videos turned off. since it takes so long to load a picture or video with exede (even with the priority data) we use my cellular data almost exclusively (and still have roll over every month) If there is an update I bring my device to work and use the guest login, which is slow but 10 times faster then what I'm using at home. I don't have a directv that is connected to the internet and I no longer have Netflix and hulu accounts. after three or four months of hard core monitoring as much as I could in the house, I've thrown my hands in the air. I cannot get a straight answer from customer service as to what device exactly is my problem. So I cannot manage data if I cannot tell what is using it.   I can identify 7 of the 9 devices that they say that are connecting to the internet. I have a password protected router, I live way off the beaten path so someone using my internet would be unlikely. The last time I called them they told me they would escalate my issues, then tried to sell me an additional monthly cost of like 4.99 (or something) so I wouldn't have to pay a 99.00 technician fee. I still have not heard back from them.  I still feel that 18g is not a realistic amount of priority data for what it costs.

I have had the same problem last 3 months, can't make it thru the month with running out of data, they said most of my data was social media, but I am not on social media that many times during the day, don't watch video, don't play games, and I don't watch movies, I don't do anything except go to facebook to see what is going on maybe 3 times a day and don't spend hours doing, my daughter a few times too but not forever when shes on it, my time on the pc is no different they ever has been and I have had wildblue for many years and usually only use about 75 to 80% but not anymore, I do have a smartphone and tablet but they have nothing to do with wildblue. I would like to find something else problem is living where I do, options are limited.
