I'm confused, if you can clarify a question to help me understand I'd appreciate the enlightenment. I have a Samsung Smart TV. When setting it up I used my Wildblue/Exede for any internet access for the TV. Now, when I view a movie on Netfliks or Amazon Prime am I using up data on my WildBlue? Last 2 months I've gone over my allotment of data. I watched 1-1hour TV show??

absolutely if your TV is using your Exede internet service for Hulu and what other applications for your Smart TV you are certainly using your data very quickly

Yes any smart TV's dish or direct TV DVR boxes, apple TV boxes etc. should not be connected to your satellite internet. I know it sucks but video is a BIG data hog if you don't keep quality setting low and even then they still use a good chunk of your data if you watch too many.

Thanks for info. If I don't want to use up my data, I need to remove my satellite information from my smart tv or just not view movies or tv.

You need to disable the wifi connection on your smart tvs and Dish, Directv and blueray players, and other devices like that.

Jennifer - You definitely want to be careful about watching your TV programming provided via Internet.  I'm not sure how that is indicated to you.  If you  are careful that way, I'm not sure what the background usage would be.  Maybe extended program guide information and such.  I don't allow my DirecTV to connect to the Internet because it downloads extended program guides and search databases.  I do allow my Blu-Ray to be connected because I don't select any of the Internet related functions other than an occasional firmware update to my player.
