In many of the areas served by ViaSat, there are plans offering 150 GB priority data, with unlimited beyond that. A much better deal than those at HN, and service is so much better too with ViaSat.

I have the Freedom 150 GB plan, $100.00 a month, and have had this for over 4 months. I have been a Wildblue, then ViaSat customer since 2008.

Bobby Yett, have you gone to your Exede account to see what new plans are available to you?  You just might find you have a new plan available to you right now that blows what you posted about HughesNet out of the water.

They only do for new customers. There are newer more expensive packages that provide more data, 150 GB, but they won't match or even compare to hughesnets QoS until viasat 2 is up in Feb and honestly it may take longer depending on how long it takes to move a percentage of customers over to viasat 2 equipment. They aren't going to do much for their customers until more competition comes in. Which ever major cellular provider will launch fixed wireless, ATT already has and is expanding it. ATT fixed wireless is capped at 10 mbps but they should start upgrading to LTE advance soon and 5g is incoming. Then ATT airgig tests have moved from the third world to Georgia. Exede will soon have actual competition. They will either respond or go bankrupt. I'm hoping for the latter.

What they are offering new customers really isn't that special.  New customers get a lower price for the first three months and then it goes back to regular pricing.  If you ask me, that isn't really anything special to get all upset about.
