Now that I have supposedly used all my G's (I have no way to make sure that the company is honest other than that idiotic "gauge") I am where I began, back in the prehistoric ages with modem slow speeds, but still paying for "high speed internet".  In the back of my mind I'm wondering how many times I stayed up till midnight for free access and got charged anyway.  I am counting the days until I can cancel.  I don't use my exede email account because I'm tired of having to reset my password all the time and it's easier to get my own Gmail account than mess with this screwed up system.  The only good thing is that this will keep my anger up and make me work harder to find an internet provider that actually has a good service and cares about their customers.  Hey Exede how about those G's I paid for in the past and you took them away?  Your greed is losing this customer and I will let anyone who asks know to run very fast away from you.

I forgot to put in that I have no illusions about finding an Internet Provider that has "Good Service" and "cares about their customers", at least not in this country and certainly not if you live in the country.  What a crock!!!!!!!

I live in the country so I have no options, or at least no options that are inexpensive.  You can't change the policy of letting the customer roll over unused data at the end of the month.  I'm a teacher and I guess I overdid my downloading this period ( I have no way of telling for sure) or perhaps it we were charged for using Netflix after midnight, I've read on this site that this happens.  All I know we didn't change our habits and for the rest months we had left over data at the end of the billing period, not this month though.  Since we have been with exede we have not watched a movie on Netflix or Amazon at a sane, reasonable time, midnight is not sane when you work.  As we live in the country Tevo is not an option.  Tell you what, get the American internet providers to get their act together and do as the rest of the world does when it comes to service, availability, and speed then you can help me.  Prior to teaching I was in the Navy so I have seen what other countries have and quite bluntly, we suck.  I took a chance and lost so I'll honor my contract, but not one minute past the 24 months and pass on that I will not be giving any good reviews on Exede, I've already saved my Brother-in-Law from the "trap" I'm in.

Steve, I'm still not quite clear on the exact issue, is your data just not going as far as you expected? Were you aware of how much data you'd be receiving when you signed up? Send me an email at exedelistens@viasat.com so I can review in more detail where the usage is going.

My data usage jumped up 17% somehow last night, I sent an email and the reply I got back was a link to the data usage policy and a case closed. I tried to send another but it did not go through.(why?) Some of these exceed employees really know how to piss people off.  I keep track of my usage numerous times daily and I know what I use.  I use less than 25% a week.  To send an email and to be blown off is pretty insulting.  My data jumped about 17% between 9:30 pm and 12:10 AM  while I was watching a movie on tv and used the internet a few times checking the status of the northern lights and checking facebook. Offline the rest of the time until just AFTER midnight when I did some large ipad updates.  Late night free zone is free?  Excede owes me 1.7 GB of data.  I have NEVER gone over my limit.

Steve, re: why so many more complaints than praise?  because it seems most people would much rather complain than offer praise...people who are satisfied also may never come to this site, plus there is quite a bit of praise within each discussion if you pay attention.
I am sorry your life view seems to be so negative.  You may not have a choice about the facts with regard to what exede does and does not offer you, but you do have a choice as to how you analyze/interpret the situation.
This sounds preachy, I know, but I used to be more like you.  As I got older I began to lower my expectations and to realize I really don't know all the "motives" behind what happens, and I no longer spend as much time assigning blame as I do looking for possible solutions that may make me more content.

  • I realize customer service can be slow, but you should persevere.  Sometimes there are issues like exede customers being charged as if they were in a different time zone than they are, i.e. their free time is happening within a faulty time frame.  I think you should, if you can find the time, get on the phone and hang there until you get answers.

forgot to say also, Steve, have you made use of any of the free software you can get to check your usage--that aren't run/maintained by Exede?  this may help you track the problem as well. 2 Examples:  Networx and satellite internet tracker.

Steve, as mentioned before, the software we use for this forum is Get Satisfaction. I can't think of any company that builds their own forum software, it's just not necessary.
