HI ALL......This service was sold to me with nothing but a bunch of lies. I have complained and the way they do business is atrocious. Even after contacting their supposed customer service lines they still INSIST I SIGNED A CONTRACT (I DID NOT). WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD SIGN UP FOR A SERVICE THIS EXPENSIVE TO BE TOLD YOU ONLY HAVE 12 MEGS OF DATA (ABOUT 3 MOVIES). I SPECIFICALLY told their salesman what my intended use was for and after I was assured there would be no issue I gave them TWO house to install. First bill had extra charges on it that I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT. Then I blew through the supposed CAP of 12 megs in about 10 days (again since I was not TOLD about a cap). AFTER all this I called to cancel and ONLY THEN WAS I INFORMED THERE IS A SUPPOSED $350 CANCELLATION FEE. I am sure I am not the ONLY one that has had these issues with them SO maybe its time to get all their disgruntled customers together and LETS SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE. Personally I am going to make sure I tell everyone I can about them and how they conduct business. This type of scammy business practice NEEDS TO BE PUT TO A STOP!!

Measured service is a "feature" of Satellite service that has always been, And maybe always will be.
For you to claim ignorance is,, Well beyond ignorant.
I am sure that the sales person needed to do a credit check, gather all of your personal information, send techs with equipment and tools to spend their time to install one or more systems for you just so you could give them a try and now you are unhappy so you want a do over or to back out completely. Well good luck with that.

12 GB, and if you set your quality standard definition instead of high definition, that is about eight movies, and 4 GB to last through the month for email and bill paying . Did you know that satellite Internet companies only have data allowance policies to make it fair to all the customers out there in rural areas that need Internet ? They are building satellites right now to remedy this, and customers are so appreciated that it is beyond comparison Have you seen the ViaSat website ? You would be very proud of you may want to look. I don't see how the company could've ever hurt you, I depend on them to run my business, and could not imagine it any other way

Your so smart speaking of tort rights and contracts....so then did you not do due diligence and examine the plan you were agreeing to up front before you decided to get the service? And then your not even getting the terminology correct. Your plan is 12Gb not 12Mb.
I'll admit that I'm not the sharpest crayon on the box but before I agree to a service I check it out first and make sure I know what I'm getting into. I wasn't surprised at all and am very pleased with the service overall [with a few minor gripes]. I know what Satellite Internet can do and deliver and I know what it can't deliver and I didn't go into it with my eyes closed.
To quote what you said;
WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD SIGN UP FOR A SERVICE THIS EXPENSIVE TO BE TOLD YOU ONLY HAVE 12 MEGS OF DATA (ABOUT 3 MOVIES).
So why did you??

My experience has been that people who spout the language that Larry Pioli (the original poster) did here are themselves scam artists.

Hey there Champion....guess you work for them as well so let me give it to you in plain ENGLISH...I called, they answered (sales person in my area), was told the service was great...fantastic speeds, great service etc...first a billing issue when I was NOT TOLD about extra charges...then the CAP which I was NOT TOLD EITHER and there was nothing to check, no contract I was told and I did NOT sign one. Then the cancellation fee ...truthfully with all those unhappy customers that are complaining (you can just google it to see if for yourself), I think you can see a pattern of deception on their part. So we will see how it goes from here.

Hey there HF...firstly let me make it CLEAR...there was NO CONTRACT OFFERED before the installation...I WAS TOLD by their salesman the speeds were great, easy to stream, no contract, no extra charges etc, no way to check that out but...go take a look at ALL the complaints..they are ALL the same. So the FTC and the FCC have been complained to by many...I will do the same, however I will take some of the money that I was going to be charged for cancellation and put it toward a FORMAL complaint with the FTC (costs about $225)...I will gladly do that before giving one cent to Exede or ViaSat.

oh and YES HF...you can not sign away your tort rights in this country...does not matter WHAT their contract says...you can look that up too if you are so inclined. Oh and let me ask you...what level of their service do you have?

Hello Larry
I removed some information from your post that both violated our terms of this forum and to protect your personal information from being put in the wrong hands (this forum is very public and open).
All Exede accounts require a 24 month agreement, these are typically explained in the service call and electronically signed after the installation. With that said sometimes there are point of sales issues that we can investigate. Please email us at exedelistens@viasat.com so we can review your concerns and work with you.

Brad...I am betting (by the amount of complaints I have seen), you KNOW they do not explain it during the service call and then you claim it was signed AFTER the installation...I signed the INSTALLATION order...nothing more. I will definitely email you and you can review it all you like...I have stated the facts...nothing more...I was lied to about the service, the contract and the termination fees...not much more to say in reality....but lets see what happens after I email you. Meanwhile I will continue to not only answer those that THINK this is a nothing event and those many that have emailed me to voice the EXACT same concerns as mine. I will be more than happy to supply that list so you can reach out to all of them as well if Exede actually listens...because so far...YOURE NOT!

Hey Brad... they actually pay employees to hang out in here and work on peoplee's issues?Simply put, yes. Obviously, the employees in question do many other things beyond working in this forum, but, they do monitor this forum for customer problems and other concerns so that those problems can be fixed. You can also email them directly at exedelistens@viasat.com.

1. Ordered
2. Provisioned
3. Picked up the equipment
4. put together the dishes and installed the systems
5. activated the systems (they don't work till you sign the contract)
6. payed the bills and handled all of the email related to the accounts
7. monitored performance and bandwidth usage
8. Moved from location to location, and reinstalled about every 30 to 45 days.
I have been around Satellite systems of all types for over 30 years through C band all kinds of Ku systems from iDirect to Starband,to Hughes and of course Wildblue and Exede,,I do not work for the company nor am I a contractor for them or any dealer. I just Know that the Systems will not activate without a electronic signature I have done it too many times,, and believe me Brother,, they did check your credit.
When I had my very own Exede system at home I loved it,,I was on 25 Gb with unmetered use from 02:00 to 07:00 central time.
All device updates and Binge Hulu or Netflix watching was done during these hours.
At that time we also had a Gen 4 Hughes system and a Professional Level iDirect Ku Modem Hooked up at home too so bandwidth was not much of a issue. Plus I had a truck full of active Modems in my Beam any way so who cared.
The iDirect had no cap.. the Hughesnet was a similar Ka system, The Exede out Performed all of them every day,, all day and all night.
The little Exede dish had better rain performance than the 1.3 meter iDirect on Ku or the 1 meter Ku Hughes and the smaller "Gen4 Ka".
For your benefit here is the current reality,, Satellite based internet service is metered limited service. It is for regular Internet activities such as search, email and Limited streaming. With popup blockers and other tools you can (If ya Want to) limit how much bandwidth that you burn up by letting endless video run on a page when you are not even watching the presentation.
If you and your family are Cloud users Satellite may not be for you,, Remember Your bandwidth use is for Upload,, And Download so storing and retrieving data on any cloud service with your satellite, you "Pay the Freight" in both directions.
In the old Hughsnet Ku days, only downloads counted against your bandwidth use.
Rather than trying to rally people to join in some kind Of class action lawsuit,,Maybe you should try a No Class lawsuit, Because you Sir have no class at all.
