Caller ID is worthless unless it shows you both

It does not show the caller's name, only the number. If you have a home phone that has your favorite caller's number and name stored, then it will show the caller's name as programmed in to your phone.

I agree...my Dish TV Network DVR displays both the caller and number on any TV I have on...so I am able to make a choice..If I don't recognize the caller it goes to my answering machine after 4 rings...

My outgoing message says "Hello, I don't recognize your caller ID or I'm not here.  Please wait for the tone and tell me your name and why you're calling and I'll get back to you."

This weeds out telemarketers and scams...it's so entertaining to see how many different ways these callers use to try and fool you into answering..but they never leave a message...they have software now that can make their caller ID display any name or any number...one even called using my name and number, as though I was calling myself...☺☺

Good indications it's a bogus caller is when the caller ID says "Toll free" "Unknown" or "out of area" when their fake number is in my area code.

But I can be assured that if they don't leave their name and reason for calling then I didn't need to talk to them anyway...but it's still entertaining to watch how they try to get me to answer...☺☺☺

Viasat Voice does show the name and number if the name is available. Sure bet that if it isn't, it's a telemarketer or a scam call.
