It will work as well as streaming any video but, it is video streaming so, watch the bandwidth usage. IMO, not really a good idea with metered internet service.

Generally speaking, its really not a good investment for Exede users because we have data usage restrictions. If you have unmetered usage in the middle of the night (and like to watch TV in the middle of the night) or the Freedom plan (which very few users have), then you can use without too much worry.

I have a Liberty 18 plan and it works well for me.

What happens after you use your 18gb for the month? How is your ability to stream videos/movies? I have Liberty 30. I use my 30 in a week or less and then my restrictions start. After that, I can only stream movies in the middle of the night or during the day - and the quality is never good. During prime time when most people would want to watch movies, I cannot do anything related to streaming.

My stream is not too congested and it seems to work OK for me anytime of the day

Hi Jenna,

I use a Chromecast and the other members have pretty much nailed it. Chromecast should work fine, but you will want to keep an eye on your data usage if you're streaming a lot of video, especially in HD.

It's also worth noting that the Chromecast may sometimes download software updates or wallpaper images without asking. I don't believe these are huge, but it's something to be aware of. My advice would be to unplug the Chromecast when you aren't using it if you have concerns.

If you use the Chromecast simply to push movies or music from your computer's local hard drive to a TV, that shouldn't use data.

Hope that helps,
Exede Matt

We also are using Chromecast and we have Liberty 12 and it works fine.  Even on Liberty Pass most nights we can stream a program or a couple You tube videos, etc. if we want to.  The key here though is "a" program, not stream all night long.  ;)  which is true for satellite in general.  And as Matt said above it does download updates, and wall paper so it's going to eat some of your data so people on busier beams might not like how it performs if your evening speed is quite a bit slower.

Yes, I must be on a "busy" beam. For example, right now I'm having email issues. It's definitely not consistent once your in the pass zone and, for me, even streaming one YouTube video in the evening is not possible.
