Changing plans and back?

I have an old plan with 10GB and free data from 12 to 5 AM  - I need more but the only larger plans shown for my area now have the free time from 3 to 8 AM which don't interest me since I'm out by 3 am.

If I change to the Freedom plan, and it isn't working out, can I still switch back to my original 12 to 5 AM free plan or will I be stuck getting one of the Evolution ones with free time I can't use?

You can only switch to plans that are then currently available in your area. If the classic plans are no longer offered in your area you wouldn't be be able to switch back - they're considered "grandfathered".

P.S. Some have been caught in this situation - switching when their current plan is available only to find that when wanting to switch back the old plan is no longer available.

If you don't mind us asking what's your zip code and we can maybe provide a little better answer as far as plan comparison.

PS: don't post any personal info like full address or anything as this forum is public.

You're a lucky dog. According to Exede's site you're eligible for the Freedom plan.

That's what I thought at first but let's do the math.  150 GB / 3GB per movie gives you about 50 movies a month at any time.  With my current program I can get in 3 movies a night free for a total of about 90 a month plus normal web and email during the day.

Tough call esp. with the price difference of an extra $40 a month for the "Freedom" plan.

I just finally got WIFI however so it would be nice to "share" my late-night movie watching with the wife during the rest of the time as well as multi stream(?) :)

yea it's up to you on what plan you do want.  If you do use the LNFZ to download that many movies over night then yea the freedom may not be enough data for you.  I know there are some people out there and use the LNFZ to download tons of movies or games from steam and use well over 100GB per month in just the free zone alone so they would not benefit from the freedom plan.

The thing to consider is the speed in the LNFZ now. You can't DL the massive amounts like a year or two ago whereas I can still hit19 Mbs on off time. Come to think of it though, if you can get the Freedom plan you probably don't have a LNFZ slowdown.

I don't know how to track LNFZ data use so really have no idea how much I use.  As to speed, all I know is Netflix & Hulu streams fine! (Syfy channel, not so much...like watching a slide show.....)

Hi Kem, We would have to look at what plans are in your area.
If Evolution is available, you can switch back with no problems at all. As
Knight Rider mentioned, you will need to figure out how much data you are
consuming to determine which plan will work better for you. Remember, WiFi  feature will pull data from any device
connected to your router unless you turn that feature off.  Check out our
website for some great tips at http://help.exede.net/articles/General/Maximize-Your-Data. Please send your account and contact
information to exedelistens@viasat.com for any additional information or if you
need any questions added.
