Why doesn't my school issued Chromebook connect to the internet? Is it something to do with the proxy set on the Chromebook and the "web acceleration" technology?

More than likely yes. When using your Exede internet connection it should be configured to use automatic proxy detection

The school is already using the proxy feature so it can't be set to automatic detection.  Is there a way to turn of Exede's proxy?

Not that I'm aware of - but a moderator might be able to clarify since it would need to be done on Exede's end.

Since it's school issued, it's likely they've locked it down so that you cannot make changes - might want to check with them and explain the conundrum. If you're connecting wirelessly it's a different connection at home and can be configured differently than at school.

FWIW, it's the Exede wen web acceleration technology that makes satellite internet bearable.
