When I canceled my service back in 2013 I did it like a responsible adult.  I called Exede/Viasat and told them I would like to cancel my service.

I then paid the cancellation fee.  Exede/Viasat shipped me a box with prepaid label to return the modem and LNB.  I put both of them in the box, shipped them back, and there was no problems or future charges to my account.

A simple phone call to Viasat will get this process started for you.  Of course, if you don't pay your cancel fee and keep the equipment, you can expect to hear from collections.

My cancelation process was very pleasant and I had no problems.  Fast forward four years and I am back as a very satisfied customer. The only reason I left Exede/Viasat back in 2013 was to save money.

$235/month for 25GB?????

You were misinformed too.  Viasat-2 will be covering California.  And  "satellite power for your area"???  What does that mean.

The best plan might be 25GB right now (not sure why you would be paying THAT much)...but with Viasat-2 coming online in a few weeks you should see other plans available to you.

Perhaps that is a bundled price with directv and phone.

I wish $235 was incorrect, but it isn't, and there isn't anything bundled with Internet. We pay $140 for 25 gb, but can never make it a full month on basic web browsing (no streaming, gaming, videos over 4 minutes, and updates done at night or elsewhere), so we have to buy 10 gb more for $95. When I called customer service to inquire about switching to a plan with more data, I was told there was no other option that the "satellites that provide to this area aren't able to provide any different plans." So I asked when the satellites are going to be updated, and was told, "Well, I don't know. We can send you an email letting you know if they are going to be updated for your area." I even asked the guy if it was the satellites in space or my receiver that needed updated. He laughed at me. I was told a new satellite was launched last year and should be coming online sometime, but it might not help us because of our location. I was told nothing about Viasat-2. I guess I was frustrated because we have been with Exede/Wildblue for close to 11 years and I felt like the person on the end of the phone didn't care about me as a customer or what I am paying each month.

To Stephen Rice:  I may be making a mistake, but I am willing to pay the cancellation fee and wait until they get some clerks or reps hired that can help you.  Without being offensive, every time I have called I seem to reach a person whom I can't understand or who can't understand what I'm calling about.  The phrase "suspension of service" was the phrase on my email and I tried to relay this same phrase to the phone clerk I reached and got very frustrated and just said 'bye'.  Since HughsNet has already been installed, I will take a few months to see if I'm better satisfied with the service recvd

Well the thing is that even if you're not in Viasat 2's footprint you'll probably see some benefits anyway as some of the bandwidth releases and that would mean less congestion and likely see maybe larger data limit plans like either the unlimited or the Freedom appear.

Never ceases to amaze me how some people can either misinterpret or seriously believe they can cancel their service on a public forum.

I don't remember this happening on the old forum. Those were the days when for the most part you could have informed discussions about the service.

I'm not sure how I missed this but Old Labs is correct.

Due to legal disclosures, account security and final arrangements the ONLY way to cancel is to call us at 855-463-9333.

Ways you WON'T be able to cancel:
-Posting on here
-emailing us
-unplugging the modem (a shocking number of people "cancel" that way. That just racks up a bill)

We would obviously like to keep you as a customer and hope there's something we can do to keep you with us but if you do wish to end your service with Viasat call in and we'll take care of you.
