My wife is a college professor who teaches online courses. As a result, she uses all of our allowed data by the middle of the month. Can we get a separate account for her at the same address that will allow us twice the amount of data?

I'm not a ViaSat employee but can't imagine why they wouldn't allow that. Of course, you're likely talking a second contract, second dish and modem, and second lease fee.

It may be beneficial (unless for tax purposes you prefer to keep them separate - i.e. the IRS makes mixing business and pleasure difficult at best since you'd somehow have to accurate track each category of usage) to compare the total costs against getting and transitioning to a business plan depending on plan availability in your area.

For example in my area if I wanted to double the maximum plan offered (Liberty 30) total cost would be approximately $320 for a total of 60GB including lease fees. It would obviously be more beneficial to me to simply get the 100GB Exede Business Plan at $300 (apparently the lease is included).

See Bev's thread at for some additional info and be sure to read through the business plan specific legal documents at

I thought I would chime in. I currently have two accounts at the same address. I have one for my household and one for my home office. The cost is pretty substantial but in my case it was the only option because cable is not available. Due to the data caps, it was the only choice as the area is rural. Hope this helps!

Hi John,  Yes, you can have two accounts. It requires a new dish, modem and tria. If you are interested in setting up another account, please contact  our sales department at 855-627-2327 or go online to

A more economical choice would be to go to the highest data plan and then just add more data. Or you can upgrade to a business plan that never slows down, you just pay for your usage. This way you don't need a second antenna or modem.

I agree with those that say go Business, it's a less costly, though not cheap by any means, way to get the additional data. With the lease fees included, it isn't quite as terribly priced as it sounds.

You don't get Exede voice with Business plans either, but if that isn't a big deal and, you do have it now, there is more savings by giving up the Exede voice. (Business 50 is actually 20.00 less per month than Liberty 30 with Exede Voice so, do have  a look at business plans, it may be a better option for you.)
