Absolutely. Unplug however long you like.

Is there an advantage to turning the service off every day as compared to just leaving it plugged?

Some unplug, some don't.  Mine has been plugged in for 2 years. I think the ones unplugging do so because of other reasons than improving their internet service.

I have unplugged mine since about 6 months after having Exede. I got tired of the continued loss of data, which never could be fully explained to me. No it wasn't a virus, somebody stealing my signal, or downloads occurring I didn't know about. So I took matters in my own hands. I only have the service on when I use it. Problem solved.

Mine is never turned off, been having it connected since I had the Exede service installed in April of 2012. I have never seen any difference in my data usage, as onitored by my router and the Viasat meter. I also have my modem and router connected to a good UPS system, ensuring it a good clean power source.

You are lucky Steve. In the early days of Exede's inception a number of us had meter discrepancies. Eventually the problem appeared solved. If I had to guess, it was an issue of modem syncing in relation to low SNR's because of distance from beam center.

Anyhow, I got in the habit of leaving the service off most of the time. On average I only have it on maybe 4 hours per day.
