Can anything be done about the NON-optional equipment lease fee?

What are the options for addressing the issue of Exede having equipment lease fees for their service of which they do NOT include this fee in their advertised pricing and yet the customer has NO option other than to lease the equipment from them in order to get the service. It is deceptive practice and if you are a long term customer you end up paying for the equipment many times over with the cost of the forever fee and if the equipment has to be replaced or repaired you end up paying for the service call and usually the repair fee because they have so many exceptions to what they will cover or what they will replace. If they have another model or another part different from what you have they CHARGE YOU FOR IT. Are there any avenues for protesting this deception or for giving the customer the option to buy their own equipment so that the plan price advertised is a reality? 

In places without internet service unfortunately there are few or no other choices and Excede KNOWS their customers are at their mercy but being deceptive and not having an OPTIONAL lease is not only bad customer service it is a rip off and should be investigated.

Exede is not hiding the fact that you are required to pay a lease fee for their equipment. This is just as it appears on their webpage showing what plans are available for any given zip code.

Details and Restrictions

Note All plans require 24 month commitment and $9.99/month equipment lease fee and are subject to taxes. Speeds are "up to," are not guaranteed and may vary. Service is not available in all areas.

I agree with Steve, Exede does not cover up the fact that there are equipment lease fee’s. This information is available online: http://www.exede.com/documents/master/exede-disclaimer.pdf Because our equipment is specifically designed for Exede, customers must lease from us the equipment required to access the Exede Internet satellite signal.

- Equipment lease fee is $9.99 per month, $199.99 if prepaid for 24 months, or $299.99 if prepaid for the life of the equipment.

I signed no contract and they say I have one. My router hasn't worked since I got the service. On and off all the time
